Appreciating Accrington

Since living in Lancaster, I've felt like it's overshadowed home a bit, what with its quaint little independent shops and multi-cultural twice a week market, maze of alleys with their charming coffee shops and numerous pubs with great selection of ales.

But the other day my friend showed me a video on youtube made by young people in his local town to portray the place they live, and it showed things which all of a sudden made Accrington seem soooo much better.

I'm glad Accrington isn't THAT bad, though I do wonder how long it'll take before it is...

Re: Appreciating Accrington

ok, sorry for the slight thead wander , but watching that video and reading a couple of previous postings makes me kind of glad I got out of the area.

Only night time problem I ever had when I was "a Lad ' living in the area was one late night after saying goodnight to a lass who lived on lower Barnes St. and walking home to Arrod over the fields from Clayton , and hearing a noise and seeing this "thing" , two legs, torso and a neck , only when I got to the other side of the brook and halfway up the hill did I turn round and look back ... I'd been looking at a horse head on in the next field .

guess them days are long gone , sorry for thread wander

The Music alone was an assault on me ears!!!

I guess its a nationwide problem these days though is'nt it. Lets be honest, i bet not one of us on here would now say that they would feel comfortable and safe walking home on their own late at night, i certainly dont! Always use a taxi now.

Best Regards - Taggy

Re: Appreciating Accrington

I have worked evenings for quite a few years... finishing at 10 or 11pm

Walked home every night at that time and felt safe

Although I'm quite young and carry a very heavy handbag
