All this because of an under-used Arndale centre, the clock will make no difference at all and certainly wont make me go into town especially to see it

them building the tax office also put Ralph's diner out of business. It managed to limp along for a few years but he lost most his custom as the wagon drivers he catered for parked elsewhere.Granted 1 breakfast could give you a heart seizure but it was a decent enough grease and spoon gaff.

Ralph's diner was also a good place to find a council employee if you wanted one as they had 3 hour lunch breaks there lol

Perhaps they should put it in Weatherspoons, if the ceilings are high enough.

In reality I don't particularly care where you go, or what you do.

Though if the clock's return means there's one less moaning Minnie in town, whilst I'm doing my shopping, that can only be a positive thing.

I enjoyed seeing the clock garinda when I went into the Arndale, as an ex engineer I though the designer was brilliant. As for moaning, I am one of the few who take life as it comes and let the rest get on with their own worries.

It is the town in general which depresses me, I went down the other day and everybody seemed to be wandering around like zombies, that's not a moan just a comment from a 73 year old who has seen more than his share of life, with a forces medal to prove it.

This sounds a bit like a pointless moan...

Especially as you offered no evidence to prove that the clock's return would 'make no difference at all'.

Here, please accept another medal, awarded to Defeatist Moaner of the Week.

Re: Arndale Clock....Save it or scrap it?

From memory, the space where the clock was sited certainly attracted more people, particularly families with children, to watch the hourly mechanical shenanigans, than what's being flogged there now.

Today most people avoid the area like the plague, and scuttle past sharpish. So as not to be pestered by some eager beaver wanting them to sign up to a satellite television company, or a motoring organisation.

I am thoroughly delighted at the renewed interest in the clock, especially with Andy Plant saying he will repair it. Local radio seems to be getting involved now.

Even better than the renewed interest in the clock...it brought you back!

Hope it's not just a fleeting visit.

You've been missed.

I was listening to John Barnes on Radio Lancashire last night. He mentioned that they will be broadcasting interviews with the clock maker each morning this week on the Graham Livsey program from 7AM.

It's a bit too early for me but there is always "Listen again" so I can hear it later.
