working mens clubs were always clicky and treated women as second class with stupid rules like no women in snooker rooms etc and only allowed in at weekends, this and the loss of the working man has put an end to them.not before time if you ask me.

They moved on from that.
I was a committee member at the Pioneer club for a few years, and there were other ladies on the committee too.

Wasn't that tiny pub on Abbey Street a beer house Barrie, twas on the left had side looking towards Hassy, was only the width of a normal house, can't think what it was called though:confused:

Is that the one just past the traffic lights, almost opposite Warner Street?

Rising Bridge, Many years ago there used to be a pub at bottom of Hazel Street (opposite Hollands) does anyone know what it was called or how I can find out, It was probably more than 60 years ago. (Maybe this should be in Questions and answers but just posted in the forum on pubs.)

There was a pub called The Beehive, now a private house. Same side as Hollands.

Nags Head closed down yesterday after a rebirth for almost 10 years.

The Calder was shut too.
