Re: New Manager In Calder
I did start a thread on the Calder a few months ago. I am sure if you did a search you will find the thread with my disastrous experience of the outlet fully detailed.
I think y9our first priority should be improving the standard of customer service. As for the kids v no kids policy. I would say definitely no kids, but then I only get inot Accrington about once every six months, so you will not achieve your targets if you rely on my custom. Child friendly pubs appeal to one section of the market only and probably frighten off twice as many people as they attract. |

Re: New Manager In Calder
When I pick my granddaughter up from school I don't take her to the pub unlike the fowl mouthed girls from Accringtons finishing school for young ladies No I take her to my flat and teach her how to make cakes- biscuits
bread etc.basic cooking skills. She loves every minute of it and then she looks on the web for new ideas for the next day. Simple but effective teaching and it's all a game to her.:dancedog: |

Re: New Manager In Calder
it seems from what i have read in this thread that the Calder is the new Regency, i remember when i was 17/18 going into the Regency and loving it, now its just a bag of crap, hope the Calder does well for you :)

Re: New Manager In Calder
Who ever thought of putting the toilets up 2 flights of stairs was obviously some twentysomething teetotal fitness freak with a degree in How To Make Life Hard For Drinkers Over 50.(or those approaching 50).Top marks for the footy though.

Re: New Manager In Calder
Have they got a lift in there? Or maybe a disabled loo downstairs? Was thinking of disabled customers rather than over fifties like myself lol! :)
If not it won't be getting my custom on principal. Noticed that a lot of Witherspoon type pubs have upstairs loos. |
Re: New Manager In Calder
was in the Calder on Thursday night and it was packed....
|
Re: New Manager In Calder
Do they still do the cheap drinks on a thursday? lol, just read that and sounded wrong....i meant is the new manager carrying that on?
cazzer.... isnt it illegal for them not to have disabled facilities now? |
Re: New Manager In Calder
Not sure Em. Found this link
Access to everyday services : Directgov - Disabled people Doesn't actually say it's illegal though, but seems a case for discrimination can be brought if they don't make reasonable adjustments. |
Re: New Manager In Calder
The Calder does have a toilet that has wheelchair access downstairs. It is at the left hand side of the bar.
As for the under 18's debate, I actually enjoy going in the Calder because they don't allow children in. As some of you on here already know, I run my own pub, which does welcome families in with children. It is nice though to be in a quieter environment. |
Re: New Manager In Calder
Keep on quid a pint on thursdays and you'll never be short of custom - calder is the place to be in accy on student night ... though I do wish they'd accept army ID on the door as proof of age - mate of mine is in th'army and we're out every thurs whilst he's back - we had to beg to get him in using an army ID what's wrong with it ?
|
Re: New Manager In Calder
In most pubs, clubs, supermarkets, off licences etc.. there is only 3 acceptable forms of ID and they are a passport, a driving licence (including provisional), or any form of ID with the official PASS logo on (ie Citezencard) I work in a pub and wouldn't dream of taking anything else, including Forces ID. I'm not entirely sure that there is a DOB on Forces ID, maybe someone could comfirm this? If not then why should Forces ID be accepted after all you ca go in the army before your 18, so it wouldnt be an acceptable form.
