The next meeting of the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Parkinson’s disease support group will be on Saturday 5th March, 11.30am -1.30pm in the Supper Room, Accrington Town Hall.
There’ll be a bring and share lunch, and old and new members will be welcomed, and offered support, advice, and friendship

After mentioning earlier today there was a chance Hyndburn Borough Council could be in a position to make a donation to our group, I've just found out they can, and we've been granted £350.00.

This really is fantastic news, as it more than covers our accommodation costs for a whole year. Any other money we raise can now be used directly to help people.

On behalf of the local Parkinson's support group I'd like to than the council, and say how much this is appreciated.

On a personal level I'd like to thank Peter Britcliffe, who has supported our group throughout the year, which has included putting people who live with Parkinson's disease in touch with the group.

'I'd like to than', should of course read 'I'd like to thank'.
Not like me, to be tongue tied.

It will hopefully lead to their support when lobbying for continued research, and disability rights.

I received a note from Parkinson's UK head office this morning, and I was genuinley very pleased to read that Graham Jones will hopefully be able to attend this event.

Sadly because of work commitments, or medical appointments no other member of the committee of the Hyndburn & Ribble Valley support group will be able to attend.

Since I can't drive that far, and fear using the train, if it's a bad walking day, I'm struggling to say how I'll get there, but will do everything in my power to be there too.

On behalf of the local group Graham, thank you for indicating you'll try and be there. It is appreciated.

I found out at our meeting today that as well as our M.P., Hyndburn's Mayor, Cllr. Malcolm Pritchard, will also be attending the Neurological Alliance meeting in Lancaster.

On behalf of the group, thank you Malcolm, it is most appreciated.

Tesco's invited us to do a flag/collection day in their Accrington store today.

We raised over £200.00 for the local Parkinson's support group, which is fantastic.

Thank you to everyone who gave so generously.

Personally, hearing about loved ones who had the disease, from some of those who gave us donations, I found very moving.

I even managed to hold my bucket without it rattling...too much. Which we weren't offically allowed to do.

:rolleyes::D

No, the shelves were bare, by the time I got there.

Good to see you, and thanks for giving me something to rattle.

I'm convinced you are twins.

One a charming, friendly gent, who makes public appearances, and the other one, the evil twin, left at home using the computer.

:rolleyes::D

Enjoy your wedding festivities tomorrow.

Don't make yourself sick on too much jelly and ice cream.

In these hard times, it's a fantastic amount, for which we're very grateful.

Hopefully it'll mean we might get new members, as quite a few people wanted the leaflets with our meeting details, for someone they knew.

One lovely lady wants to make a personal donation to us in memory of her late mother, who had Pd.

Really made me feel that the majority of people are kind and good.

:)

Whilst I'm thanking people for their kindness, I really should mention a more regular donation we get.

I don't have the exact figure, but again it's over £200.00.

Martin's bakers in Oswaldtwistle have a collection box for our local group. So a big thank you to their staff, and customers, for their generosity.
