no its to the nne of the trig point on pendle, dont want to tell people where it is exactly, and spoil the fun of finding it. but its a climb up the hill if you want to find it lol

got the res in cos i set off from newchurch. through fell wood, then followed the pendle circular, then took a detour, straight up the side of the clough, (have to get off the grid sometime!) up to the trig point, then well then back down into Barley the 3/4 mile on the road back to Newchurch.

Today in Pictures. they are not sunsets, they are the middle of the day, All advice says, don't shoot into the sun, but I did, just messing around really

1. through to 5. the Leeds Liverpool up to the Church border.
6. Hagg Lodge before going into Asda.
7. Coming out of Asda there was a brief pink glow over the Coppice, not a thought out shot, just a quick snap to capture it. It was gone in 10 seconds

Hi Dave, I always look forward to seeing your photos for the day. These are great and give me more ideas of where to go to take photos, especially of the sun and sunsets. I know the advice is not to shoot into the sun, but I often do, although I try to use a filter .... if I remember lol.

This is my favourite thread on AW .... love popping by to see the new pics being posted.

Thanks guys and gals for the great pics.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Lovely pics again from all. Are the colours of your skies tweaked or natural Dawn?

Sue I especially liked number two for the perspective and feel of the place and the woman's head-dress in 3 is great. Nice pics of the man with the panama! Does he not take any of you?

Darren -glad your quest to find the well was a success -looks like there was a lot of water down -hope your boots held out!

Dave lovely reflections again - nice swans and some great colours.

Haven't been inspired to take pics recently -I am too busy faffing about! A month till I'm in Tenerife -should take some then! Keep up the good work all...

You and I seem to have an eye for the "feel" of the same pictures - I liked 2 as well! It's a pity there were so many tourists on the island - I would have liked to see it with just the locals - and me. But as they get most of their living from tourism that is not likely to happen.

Richard is expressly forbidden from taking photos of me though he does sneak the odd one in and they are usually awful - last time he managed to cut my head off! In return I don't feel I can take more than the odd shot of him. And most of the time we were away this time he was wearing his floppy hiking hat - which is not as elegant as the panama though I do have a few shots with him wearing it. (He didn't wear the panama on the ship as he was afraid of it getting blown into the sea!)

Goree Island again...

House opposite the Slave House
The Door of no return for the slaves, from inside the Slave House
The same, from the sea side (the one on the extreme right)
Local lunch stop - note the French-style street name plaques - this is Rue Saint Germain!
Drying washing - the man is taking a photo of the church which is at the other end of this square
Railings in front of the church
Street, slightly less cluttered with tourists and with some nice trees
Musician in a seafront cafe - any money collected went straight in the hole in the side of the instrument
One man in a boat, Goree harbour
A few more in a bigger boat, on the way back to Dakar

You look at some of the snaps and think , what would elf and safety do with some of those conditions, and practises

on a thursday night down at the Eatery 1853 (globe centre) the across college restaurant, its beat the clock, you get 2 courses for the price of the time you order (between 5pm-7pm) choice of 3 starter/3 mains/3 dessert

so for example chicken breast with carrot & parsnip puree on a potato/celeriac rosti, with profiteroles to follow ordered at 5pm is £5 Bargain!!!!, ordered at 7pm (last time to order) its £7

i went to get pics of mrs church menu, but it didnt happen so i got these pics of some of their food to share with you all whilst i was there

(and i eat em after mmmmmmmm)

best to ring and book in advance but can usually get in no problem, you can even buy some wine while your there to wash it all down!!!

I'll have the pate, soup and profiteroles, main courses don't do it for me.

What a good idea except tonight I've only got a large glass of Coke. Still I did have a very nice corned beef hash earlier so that's OK.

Wow great set of shots Dave, especially considering the rain was dreadful today. I love the fungi pics and I am envious that I have not had chance this fungi season to do much foraging photography. Also like the processing on the last shot, good work.

Cheers

Dawn :)
