I have no idea what it has been recently, I always thought it was the old Dock owners offices.

Never mind Mick, lets have a photo of the Leyland Tiger,
Did you see the ex Ribble recovery truck? That was based on a Ribble PS2 Tiger which was new in 1949, restored by a couple of Manchester lads who used as many original parts as possible.
I prefer the Tiger Cub myself, much lighter to drive although it had a crash box.

You probably have seen my photos of one on here with me behind the wheel.

That's enough porn for this time of day.

edit,
Ooops. I just scrolled back and found your photo of BD2 Tiger recovery truck. I posted a photo of the cab interior a while back.

WARNING .... GREMLIN PORN!!!! :D:D:D

by the way gremlin do you know about the bus gathering and transport collectors fair AND the vintage transport gathering 7-8 September at bury transport museum ... I was down on the east lancs railway today and picked up the leaflet .. oh and the autumn steam gala and vintage bus running day on the east lancs on 19 & 20 October ...

Thanks for the Tiger photo shillelagh, it's a very unusual body, not one I have seen before but after trawling through my my many photographs I found one similar owned by Ribble. I wonder what the doors below the windscreen are for, the engine is under the floor so maybe it is an emergency exit, very strange. I will make enquiries.
I will probably go to the Bury Museum on the 7th or 8th September, I still have a few complimentary tickets from when June walked the guide dogs and I normally park at Rawtenstall and catch the train to Bury.
On the 4th August there is the Pennine run which usually attracts a lot of old lorries, cars and buses, one year there were over 80. They start at Birch services and go via Todmorden, Heben Bridge, Otley and finish at Harrogate.
The Sunday after The Long Haul Club, of which I am a member, will be hosting a gathering of about 30 old lorries at the Crofters on the A6 at Garstang.
Both events are free.

Thanks for that shillelagh, K&R are the chaps who restore old vehicles using as much as the original as possible, even if it is not in the best of condition. They restored the Ribble Tiger recovery truck you saw at Fleetwood.
They are very enthusiastic about their work and will always have a chat about whatever vehicle they have brought to the shows.

I don't know who the original owner was but I have already emailed my friend who looks after the Leyland vehicle photo archives to see if he can shed any light on it.

Thanks again. Like given.

I'll try to make up for yesterday's senior moment. As it was threatening rain I took my compact camera out today.

1) Get it in before it rains
2) It's on its way
3) Pretty Pink flowers
4) & 5) Pollination time
6) A different view of Ossy Wind Farm
7) Who lives here?
8) Droplets for Dave
9) Hole in tree

Today in Pictures, a shocking morning to be out, but I was.

1. You would expect a few moist moments on a day like this.
2.The top of the rockery.
3. A wet geranium.
4. I don't know this plant, but its wet.
5. Another moist geranium.
6. The pond at the bottom of the rockery.
7. The Mansion House.
8. Crocosmia Lucifer.
9. Back up the hill to the car.
10. This used to be called the cannon bank, probably still is.

Great photos -envy you the cooler weather and RAIN!!! Lovely droplets , moistness and clouds...

So hot here -peak of 42°C with 75% humidity today -was 31.5°C in the house with shutters closed and fans on -PHEW!

Spent the afternoon with my other half who was stung by a wasp on the farm while working - his face, lips and neck swelled up so he couldn't speak -scary -got him to A&E in time -they were fab, within minutes he'd had cortisone and was on a drip..they sent me home and kept him in under observation for 6 hours once stable -home now -sleeping and OK :)

Worn out and counting down the days till I'm in Lankyshire for my hols and some cool weather... :)

Sorry to hear about hubbies mishap, you make summer over there sound a bit dangerous and uncomfortable.

The rain here is a bit persistent at the moment, but it is still warm, but in true lanky form last week I was wishing for a break in the warm weather, now we have it, I am hoping for a bit of sun soon.

Uncomfortable is the word - we've been mid-30's with high humidity for well over a month - big problem is that the night-time temps don't drop much either -hard to sleep! I followed the heatwave thread on here and was thinking they should try the summers here! Last year was actually much worse -even hotter and for longer...

Cloudy this morning which is a relief -can feel a thunderstorm on it's way!:hothothot

We are never prepared for a warm spell here, it has been over 7 years since we had a decent period of warm weather, shops have sold out of fans.

Will look forward to some dramatic storm and cloud shots if it arrives.

The Leyland Tiger was bought new in 1951 by Jackson's of Castle Bromwich.
The doors at the front are for access to the spare wheel.
It spent some time with South Notts who painted it blue and later is spent many years in the service of The Royal British legion.

Now that is porn.

The last few snaps from my recent holiday at Southport, I hope I haven't bored you too much.
This time they are all taken in Liverpool Cathedral.

The last one was taken through my hotel bedroom window which I kept closed so the aircon would keep running.
It was taken with my little Panasonic Lumix and the odd thing about it is the dark sky.. Apart from a bit of cropping I never manipulate my photos, they are straight from the SD card but when I took the photo of the moon the sky was fairly light at 10PM and the moon didn't stand out as much. The camera has a 20 optical +20 digital zoom and was set on auto. Very odd.
The Nikon didn't produce the same results and I tried all sorts of different setting.
