Great to see some more photos of L'pool Sue -I'm feeling positively nostalgic!

My aunt and uncle in Tod were out of the water luckily "Gremlin" - great old photos -nice to have one with your Grandma too.

Some nice shots from "Max" too - like the cows and that wasp looks quite evil...

Today in Pictures, A walk through the Millennium Baby Woodland.

1.Walking past the Petre Family vault, once a family of note, now mostly forgotten.
2.It doesn't seem that long since the field was planted, but time passes faster the older you get, and you walk slower, does that seem fair.
3. Looking out from the woodland toward Hapton Scouts.
4. This was the shiniest moth I have ever come across, the Burnished Brass Moth.
5. This year is a good year for the Small Skipper Butterfly, they are in most places I visit.
6. The woodland does not appear to get much traffic through, and as a result the wildlife abound, especially wickthings.
7. The Green-Veined White Butterfly.
8. The general direction of travel.
9. Out of the woods, a view of Pendle Hill, and more United Utilities fencing.
10. Back at the start point, Bell Lane end, I once told a lady where I had walked from and got the order of the words mixed up.

Last Saturday we went to Townend at Troutbeck near Ambleside, a National Trust property. It's a typical farmhouse which was owned and added to by a rather well to do family. There's a lot of carved wood in the house, both old and fairly modern (early C20) including a built in kitchen. Unfortunately there's no lighting in the house so taking photos was a bit difficult. There's a nice garden too which was easier to snap. We then went over the Kirkstone Pass towards Ullswater to round off our trip.

  1. Wild flowers by the path to the house
  2. Barn across the road
  3. A bean tree
  4. This is a living history property - hang out your washing
  5. A holey hosta
  6. Carved panel on a clock case
  7. Very long table, built in situ in the house
  8. Rush light holder
  9. Bench to go with the long table
  10. Lobelia through a diamond lattice window

More to follow

I never noticed any flowers after those bloomers, I had visions of gusset problems out in wet weather.

I find when I wear a pair like that you can pull them right up and keep your neck warm, and I make no apologise for putting that mental picture in your head.

More shots from our trip to Townend last Saturday.
  1. Carved cradle
  2. Carving on fireplace
  3. Lovely old door and staircase beyond
  4. Looking down the stairs from the top
  5. Bottom of the stairs
  6. Victorian wedding dress on display
  7. Give us a kiss...
  8. Carving over a fireplace with a row of small smiley faces
  9. Spiral staircase made of solid oak blocks. Given that my mobility is still somewhat impaired, I'm amazed I managed to negotiate this, both up and down, with the help of Richard and a sturdy stick. Made me feel good though having done it (if somewhat exhausted!)
  10. Ablutions

Last lot of shots tomorrow
