I like bird shot #4: he seems to be saying "come any closer, and you'll see how sharp this beak is!"

I think you're right and it is a Calla Lily -my neighbour Andreina is very keen on her flowers and keeps the borders and other areas round the farm looking nice all year round with the help of her son. He has just made a new herb box which I have photographed today!

The lavender shot is my favourite and I think I'll send it to my mum, electronically this time though, so that she can paint it!

Another selection of snaps from a wander round the farm after lunch - I put my straw hat on and braved the midday heat!
1 "Taffa" the gardener's corner (it's his nickname)
2 Portulaca in a window-box above the Lavender
3 Newly planted herb-box
4 Red Hot Chili Peppers!
5 Red and white Onions drying out in the yard
6 Tree-trunk planter with more Portulaca - it's a succulent and very resistent to the sun
7 Old postbox in a corner
8 Maize -a single plant growing sponateously outside the workshop
9 Junk in a corner
10 More dusty stuff!

We have Portulaca here in Canada too. Nice bright colours, and quite resistant to heat and drought. The dusty glass bottles were for making wine, I believe. I love the shot of the corn stalk against the old wall, and the spider you caught just to the right of the old mailbox. Great shots - I feel transported!

Hadn't noticed the spider myself!:p

The maize plant is growing up through the trunk of an old vine, I have another pic of it which I'll post tomorrow -have already used up my daily allowance of 10.

Well done capturing the butterfly.

This has to be one of my favourite places, I posted in the winter this place, and the top of the hill, Musbury Heights, and that was in two foot of snow.

It's the nettles that get the nutmegs, thistles just turn legs into a scratching post, especially in shorts, serves me right for having them on my head.

Gorgeous place Dave! I'm envious...very characteristic. Love the thatched roofs and flowers, the windmill and the boats, and the horses. On my list of places to see now. Thank-you for taking us there with you :p :thankya:

Today in Pictures, a walk I have done many times before, Spring Wood, Whalley.

1. The orchids have gone, the meadowsweet take over.
2. Meadowsweet.
3. Uphill all the way.
4. Its all a bit overgrown.
5. Bracken fern everywhere, its poisonous.
6. I think that tree is following me.
7. Some more uphill.
8. Looking in the direction of Clitheroe, its very misty in the distance.
9. No time to use the facilities.
10. From here its all downhill.

A lovely walk. Do you get many Mosquitos in woodland areas? Over here we wouldn't dare venture out without some evil smelling potion.
