Emma and Hope ... Emma was also "free to a good home" ....
Public Service Announcement: "If you drink, don't drive" (Lorsqu'on boit, on ne conduit pas ... I have francophone friends)
Anyone coming to my place for a few drinks (Jim Beam, last nite) and a few pipes of good Afghani black doesn't drive home ... after the second drink, it's hand over your keys, which spend the nite in my pete. The body you can see in my recliner in the second pic is a friend of mine, quite happily and noisily sleeping it off. It doesn't add much to the picture, but it beats the hell out of spending the nite in the tank.
It's so good to see open, flowing water. The Great Lakes are about 90% frozen over this year ... lots of ice fishing.
Do you use jig rigs with multiple hooks? I've Never tried ice fishing but I've seen brilliant results from jig rigs.Do you eat the fish or do you catch an release?...
...Also do you see fishing as a blood sport? (Just asking)

For ice fishing, jigs are good for just about anything: lake trout, walleye, perch, whitefish ... But perch do have a fondness for minnows. Depending on the size, I eat the fish. And it's not really a blood sport ... although I have to admit that it's a fun thing to do, I don't really see it as "sport" ... if it is a sport then I would fail the drug tests Some of the best ice fishing around is in the Bay of Quinte, about a half hours drive west of here.

That's an impressive set of wet bits, plus the slow shutter speed does wonders for the water flow, are you on a tripod ?
Today in Pictures, another rainy day, but I was determined to find a footpath that I was told was there.
1. You wouldn't want to sit on that.
2. That's Whalley Viaduct in the distance.
3. Its a long time since that was occupied.
4. Whalley Nab in the distance.
5. I used to know the name of this folly, but for the moment it escapes me.
6. You can see this line of trees from Hyndburn, it looks like a forest but close up all the trees have been felled.
7. The point of the walk today, the mast on Pendleton Moor.
8. Its a harsh environment up here.
9. I didn't see the bird until now.
10. Almost back to base, Whalley Nab.
Thanks, like I said I rest the camera on something to keep it steady, a rock, jumper, anything I have to hand, then use the 10s timer to give it time to settle after pressing shutter. Most difficult bit is getting it level, had to straighten these later.
Because I like to stay in my car and keep dry (no wet gusset) I use this little attachment to hold the camera. It is very stable and will support the camera even when the 400mm lens is attached, the lens has a tripod clamp so the weight is balanced.
I use a either a two second shutter delay or an app on the iphone which controls the shutter remotely, the iphone screen shows the same scene as the camera viewfinder and avoids camera shake when the shutter is pressed.
OK, it's not much use scrambling through the undergrowth but I leave that to the davemacs of this world.
I also have a monopod which has a rubber grip to screw on to it's thread so it doubles as a walking aid. It was about thirty quids and is worth every one of them.
