you were close,it was called the 'dirty duck',not mucky duck :D

I think it was market street lane, Dirty Duck. Was there a night club opposite.

Spot on, Al. Top of Church Street, turn left into Darwen Street, first on the right, after that big bank-type building. Can't remember there being a nightclub opposite though - thought it was just a row of one-story shops, but I may be wrong. Saw a huge punch up in there in the late 70's - bottles and chairs flying, the lot - after someone got their "stash" confiscated by a bouncer. Happy days! :D
