Got up this morning at 6-30am,
put kettle on switched tv on set laptop up ,
tv who is through virgin media who have taken over NTL showed an error on the set top box "LD20" no tv channels and more inportant NO broadband Panic!
Now on the bills it does give numbers to phone but does not give opening times anyway i rang "customer care" told to ring another number so rang that they sent me back to the last number going round in circles so tried the broadband number a lady answered told her what the problem was and she said its your set top box this is the broadband help desk and gave me the first number i rang i told her i had allready rung that number she then told me they dont open till 8 am great by the way you will be charged 10p for the connection and 25p a min for this call goodbye
8am i rang again this time i got through told the guy what the problem was he asked for the card number and sent a signal down the line "nothing" he said there is a problem i said i told you that we will send someone out ok i said " we have a slot on MONDAY afternoon" when i said thats the soonest we can get out but i need my broadband well i could make it MONDAY morning if that helps,(5 days without Broadband or tv) it will have to do i said but i am not inpressed did not have this problem with NTL ok he said its booked,
i will sent the signal again just to make sure please ring if it sorts itself out bye.
2 mins after putting the phone down tv came on and so did the broadband
will wait and see if it happens again in the morning before telling them though

ITs going to be one of them days we have now had power cuts in the area

Re: Panic!!!

Dont worry SKY customer service is worse! we are supposed to be getting the top download speed and when mick was downloading on his ps3 it took all night to download 4% and the pages were taking like a week to turn on the laptop so he called them he got the very local (not) call centre and he asked the chap to turn up the speeds the chap said you are already getting the top speed so mick said i dont think so or theres something wrong! anyway the guy said he could see nothing wrong and went through the usual unplug this and unplug that! (like you dont do all that anyway before you call) mick didnt touch anything he just said right the fella said when we finish on the fone unplug the microfilter and plug in a new one and it should be ok.

He put the fone down and like i said mick did nothing and then all of a sudden the download zipped through and the pages went back to normal on the laptop! so he did just turn up the speed again but was making out it was the microfilter! pha! Rubbish.

Re: Panic!!!

I never had any trouble with ntl at all ,when we moved they reinstalled everything for free and ran the cables where i wanted they where really good.
and i never needed to call them with a problem.
the only time i had a problem was when they where renewing the main box in the street but that was sorted in a few days.

Re: Panic!!!

My parents have NTL (Virgin) and had a problem with their phoneline, took 6 days to come out and fix it.

I on the otherhand have BT problem on Saturday am, rang up fixed on Sunday. They also redirected any calls to my mobile and stated they would pay compensation if it wasn't fixed in 3 days. Yes to me it is worth the extra.

Re: Panic!!!

If you have to ring Virgin again Mick dial 150, it's a free number to get through. For some reason they seem to answer quicker as well.
