Paying for anti virus and firewall is cheaper than paying for a new PC anyway.

Incredible that anyone running a business can be mad enough to do their banking online with no protection whatsoever!

It gets better. His whole business strongly depends on the computer system. If something awful happened it could run on a 'back to basics' with paper and pen but it runs much more efficiently with the computers.

IMO he's crazy! No firewall or virus and he thinks nowt of getting the lads in the office to half a look at his latest find with undesireable websites, which I'd guess are riddled with bugs and stuff.

Re: which protection ?......

depends on your vbersion of AVG, they did start includinga firewall. If you don't have one then you need to get one!

go here http://www.grc.com/default.htm and down the bottom follow the Shields up test. This will tell you how good (if at all) your firewall is.

Spybot/Ad-aware are malware/spyware scanners, these are highly recommended as they will make sure you haven't inadvertedly installed some dodgy software that is reporting home.

County hall and all lancs cc machines run Sophos which is supposed to be vv good - we've got an ntl lan-broadband connexion which automatically runs ntl's firewall which seems to be ok ... so far so good
