I think that was more of a stop gap measure, he put his name forward as the shortlist at the time wasn't to sparkling & as he was better placed it would've made good footballing & economic sense ! Still they went for Hodgson & we all saw how that went ! :(

So the great unbeatable Manchester United can only win with 1 goal against a 10 man Liverpool, a team who according to all the great manc fans, the ones from anywhere but Manchester, are rubbish. Not much of a victory

What was Webb thinking of?

Robbed ! Even Berbatov looked shifty when questioned about the penalty, a touch of conscience perhaps ? Bit to late in the day sadly.

The penalty was perhaps dubious, there is leg contact. However there were other better shouts not given - did Gerrard learn from the Rover's hooligan or vice versa?
Teams down to 10 men often play better than ever, but at the end of the day it is the scoreline that counts - but of course Rovers had already lost interest in the FA Cup before this weekend:D

The day I feel any jealousy on Liverpool's behalf will be the day Hell freezes over. I'm an Everton fan!

Overall, Manchester United were the better team and deserved the win, but I feel they should have achieved it themselves without ludicrous refereeing.

Na Dave the shirts a poor fit, must have swapped shires with Berbs after the match. Although I believe that there is now a special offer in the united store, along with the new United kit Black Shirt, shorts and socks, to say a special thanks, fans are being allow 4 letters for the shirts, so far most have plumped for WEBB, with NANI running a very poor second:D

Even if Kenny does stay on in charge into the new season, I can't in all honesty see Liverpool being a major force in the League for a couple of years. As it stands there's to much reliance on one or two individuals & a lot of dead wood costing money. It needs taking right down to the ground & a new start with youngsters ! Something similar to what Wenger did at Arsenal only with us eventually picking something up, I can wait ...... Rome wasn't built in a day & all that. ;)

Come on Barrie were not the Dingles, or as we call um at Ewood the near men, they were nearly a prem team, and unfortunately Jack Walker died the only true football supporter who has owned a Premiership Club, he didn't sink Rovers into £800,000,000 of debt and milked the fans like some yanks are doing;););)

Sorry Jay, but it was 5 years between Rovers winning the Premiership and Jack Walker's death. He also broke the British transfer record twice, so there is some truth in the statement that he bought the title. What happened after the '94/95 season - did he lose interest or what?
As for Burnley, well, ruined by an ego - the Butcher Boy, but I did watch them play in the European Cup against Hamburg - and they won, back in the late '50s long before Rovers played in the European Cup.
At the end of the day, it all comes around that goes around. Mancie has been there since the '70s, for me it was Coleman, Edwards, Taylor and the like that caught my imagination - and my unswerving loyalty.

All you plastic Mancs keep intimating the Rovers bought the title in 95 well considering United usually plunge about £50 into the transfer market every season seems like they have been doing the same for years.
Lets just look at the 92/3 at a few players that brought back the glory years to the theatre of merchandising inaugural Premier league season

Peter Schmeichel Bought from Bromby
Paul Parker, from Fulham
Paul Ince West Ham
Denis Irwin Leeds
Andrei Kanchelskis Dynamo Kyiv
Gary Pallister Middlesbrough
Steve Bruce Norwich
Bryan Robson WBA
Brian Choccy McClair Celtic
Mick Phelan Burnley vie Norwich
Lee Sharp Torque United
Eric Cantona Leeds United

And you lot say we bought the title, dream on :p:p:p:p:p:p:p

I think he tends to get a little jealous Mancie. That was back in the Tommy Docherty days when Utd weren't exactly winning much. The gate for the Ajax game was only just under 59,000. I don't know where all these glory hunters turned up from.;):D

Of course Rovers have never had a 59,000 crowd unless they were playing away (at the Theatre of Dreams), or at Wembley - can't recall the last time they played at Wembley during the last 2 centuries - and of course they rolled over today, they prefer a London club to win the league rather than a Lancashire club.

Funny enough Barrie I've actually seen Rovers at Wembley twice in the 90's.. once in the play off final v Leicester and the Charity Shield v Everton..I suppose Jaysay will call me a glory hunter simply because I do on occasion pay to watch other northern teams when they are playing in my area... in fact he might have been at the same games...but then again I'm sure he's ugly mug would have stood out even in a large crowd!:D

This 'buying the title bit'.
if Rovers bought the title then so did the big clubs with money before us.
At that time rovers never bought any champions league and massive international superstars.
sherwood superstar from norwich city ? i dont think he was ever thought of as that..Le saux from chelsea reserves both at £ 600,000 a piece !!.
Something ive noticed is Spurs spending year after year for over the last decade maybe. They are constantly about 3rd highest spenders and this never gets mentioned. so Recent example is spurs ,in the last maybe 5 years, thats under martin jol, someone else? ( cant recall if someone inbetween ? ) Harry Rednapp have spent around £ 150 million in them 5 years!! now that really is big money folks..NOT JUST 28 MILLION THAT IS IT

Rovers record attendance is over 63,000:p:p:p:p:p payed at wembley in 1987 winning the full members cup and in 1992 in the play offs
and two charity shields. I have actually been on Ewood with 58,000 v Burnley in the 1960 FA Cup Quarter final reply which we won 2-0 (nothing new there then) and ya I'd sooner see any body win the title, than United and Chelski and lets not forget the Dingles (but they'll will happen)
and we have to remember 75000 at the theatre of merchandising there are 70000 glory hunters from all over the place and 5000 mancs:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p

I think because there isn't a great deal of Spurs support on this site & added to that they haven't really "challenged" for the title in recent years. Ok they've had a 4th place finish in 2009/10 & 5ths through 2005/07, but you have to go back to 1989/90 for a 3rd place & even further back to 1950/51 when it was Div 1 for a championship title.

Think your wrong there Dave Spurs won it in the sixties in the Blanchflower, Smith, Jones and White era

sherwood superstar from norwich city ? i dont think he was ever thought of as that..Le saux from chelsea reserves both at £ 600,000 a piece !!.

They did break the British transfer record twice I believe - think it was Shearer and Sutton, but open to correction on the names;):):)

Yep 60/61, didn't see that one when I looked at the list. Still even at that it's a ways back !

TOPSPURS - the world famous unofficial home of Spurs on the internet

Here's where I got the info

Anyway to get back on track, Robbed again ! Pretty poor showing first half despite going one up. As to the total miscarriage of a decision by the ref at the start of the 2nd half allowing Everton to equalise, then go on to knock in another I have to say Everton were the better team for the first 20 mins of the 2nd, then the Pool got their arses into gear & at least managed to pull out a draw, should really have been KD's first home win !

Nobody can BUY the title it takes more than just money, at United it money and Fergie, at Ewood it was Jacks Money Kenny and don't for get Ray Harford, at Arsenal money plus Wenger, if it was money alone City will win it every year for the foreseeable future as yet they don't look like winning once.;)

You are perfectly correct Jay, I seem to remember Sunderland trying to do that in the '50s - think i saw them at Ewood when Shackleton played, but it didn't work out - mind you that really is the dim and distant past:):):) P.S. Denis Irwin came from Oldham after their Cup run and £1M for Cantona, cheaper than S & S - either of them, what a buy. Arguably the most influential player for decades.:D

Packed a hell of a punch too, or was that a kick:D as for Irwin I know he was at Leeds didn't realise he stopped of at Oldham for a brew on the way to the T of M:D

You may have missed the point - 1-0 to United means we won and you lost and we are above you in the league. "Simples";):D

It has got to something when we give a team 2 goals start and still win - quite a few teams have fallen at Bloomfield road this year - but not La creme. Catch us if you can, the Premiership is ours to lose:D

Another United RAW, think Stanley could win the Prem with the help they get from refs, mind you they had to take the Fat Lad off before they started to play and the plastics only started singing 15 minutes from normal time, but it was nice to hear all those Southern Voice pipe up after being so quite for 75 minutes:p:p:p:p:p:p

Falkenseer Chaussee. That's where the Irish Pub in Berlin I was on about was, mind you we're going back to 93/95 :) And to neatly get back on thread, by buying that bottled ditch water you merely confirm your lack of style & taste with your support of terrible "Beer", terrible football club ! :D Say no more squire.

Did anyone actually watch the game? At 2-0 Blackpool had the biggest penalty claim of the season turned down. I doubt even the scum would have come back from 3-0, dare I say one of Utds goals was offside !!!

Maybe not at the moment but the number of assists suit me - after all we do have the top scorer in the Premiership. A goal difference of +30 (Stanley are -2), Rovers are -6 and Liverpool are on zero.
So Rooney is not scoring, big deal, we have always got someone to score goals - and by the way, we haven't lost a league game this season - Rovers lost 11, Pool lost 10 and Stanley have lost only 7.
Perhaps constructive criticism of your own teams may be more useful - criticising United does nothing for you at all except to put your jealousy on open display;);):D:D:D

So we played our second string today - a bit hairy until we pulled it back to 1-1 and then it was no contest. Even though we already hold the record for the number of wins another one would be nice.
Rovers out of it again? and against only 10 men - perhaps they chickened out?
Have Rovers actually won it or was it Blackburn Olympic the last time the FA Cup came to Blackburn?
Looked for the Scouse result but can't find it - must surely be an oversight:D:D:D
