I would think that technically they are all Stanley players anyway until next Thursday, most contracts run until 30th June.

Re: Deadline Day

Coley should be in touch with all players on Monday and they are due to resume training on Wednesday according to the Observer so we should get to know who is making the ultimate committment to Stanley and who is after more brass by going elsewhere!!:confused::confused: Look at Symes and Grant who went for more brass...They have hardly played all last season .. a backward step in my view for both of them and for Stanley and for football.... How will their confidence and enjoyment of the game stand now??:(:(
So come on Jimmy Ryan, Terry Gornell and one or two others, pledge to the LEGEND that is ACCRINGTON STANLEY and MAKE HISTORY!! In the long run it is pride in what you achieve in life not money!!
ON STANLEY ON:signbeer::wave8::rose8:

A noble sentiment indeed, however pride wont pay the bills!!...........Dont get me wrong, I would much rather that they stay with us, but can understand them wishing to move to pastures new and increasing their earning potential.

Agree that pride wont pay the bills and personally think no one has committed yet cos they are waiting till the last minute to see if there are any other offers on the table. Offers that would pay more, have their own training facilities and actually get paid on time. Hope we do keep the majority together but very much doubt it!

Absolutely agree with Pete and New Red. There's a selfishness on this broad that is too quick to come down on people who seek to better themselves. How many of us would continue to work for the club, if down the road we'd get a few bob more; be paid on time and the amount owed and where offered prospects that where meaningful. What the club has done over the years from the early 70s is nothing short of fantastic; but in 2011 the world is a very different place and players at this level have very different priorities and commitments than us supporters. Nobody should have be left without a contract this season and no player should be criticised for looking out for themselves. The club didn't reward their efforts by offering them a competitive contract to keep them, so why would they want to commit themselves.

Didn't realise you were in the know about what contracts have been offered to who Doug? Apart from a few lines in the paper from Luke Joyce who said he'd been offered a 2 year contract I don't think many people knows who has been offered what, one thing I'm sure of is that the club will have offered the best they can afford to the players. Of course the offers may be less than the lads can get from other clubs & if they choose to turn them down & move on so be it. We cannot offer ridiculous money as some other clubs do or we could end up back in a similar mess to the one we are just starting to get out of.
Of course I would love all the team to stay together and see what they could achieve this coming season but if they don't then I'm sure Coley will find replacements for the ones who do leave (although I would be disappointed if Scunthorpe is Jimmy's destination as I think he could do much better for himself)

No certainly not cashy; I don't claim to. What I'm saying is the club or ourselves cannot criticise players for moving on if the club itself fails to invest in what was our best ever team since the 50s. It's a very competitive market for the top end of any league and we have to learn to compete, rather than rely on loyalty alone and the enterprise of our manager to bring in new blood every season only to let them leave at the end of each season; all we are doing is developing key asset for some other mugger to pick up for a small amount of money, if any. If we want to stay competitive we have to invest and compete; high up the league we go the more the money will flow inwards instead of out.

Saying utter crap on here or appears to be easier that accepting another's opinion; how things have changed.

The club will have offered the best financial packages that they could possibly make. Unless you have invented a way of pulling money out of your whoseywhatsit then we have no way of 'competing' with the bigger clubs in this league or the league above.

Our only hope is that our sought after players look to the likes of Ian Craney to show that the grass ain't always greener; that they may well play their best football under John & Jimmy and progress that way.

From the reports I have seen, the budget for this coming season will be the same as last season. I would expect that JC would be looking to trim the squad slightly in order to offer better terms to our key players in the hope that it may help to keep them here. Its a bit concerning that we only have one contracted player at the minute though!
