Re: Signings
Good luck to Janoi we got an excellent 2 seasons out of the lad my concern now is cover for left back Will Wood is left footed as his Ben Everton but are either a natural full back maybe Coley as his eye on someone also still no sign of a second keeper.
|
Re: Signings
If Toto has curbed his temper he would make a damn good CB in my view.

Good luck, Janoi, and thanks for your efforts with Stanley.
Probably not quite ready for League 1 (but what do I know?) but I recall Mr. Wood came in as a left back. |

Will Wood played against a Rovers XI on Saturday and along with the rest of our boys he did pretty well especially in the first half. . Less so in the second half but the Rovers lads did put us under more pressure as we tried out more fringe players via substitutions. I do remember Janoi's first match for us was not too good but look how he has developed! Yes, Will looks to be a true left footed player and could be the answer to fill in the Number 3 spot. Let's put our trust in John, Jimmy and Andy.:theband: COME ON STANLEY:mosher::mosher::mosher: |
Re: Signings
I'm not convinced we need to spend large sums of money bolstering the squad. English football is saturated with young former academy players who have been unlucky or lost their way a bit. We have proven time and again that they can thrive at Stanley, I would be looking at this group rather than anyone else.
We did go for a long period without paying any agents fees. Something to aim for. |

we have gone down this road for the last few seasons and it has worked. prefer this than throwing money at one player who might or might not come off. plenty of clubs have tried the latter approach and for some have lost their league status. |
Re: Signings
Agreed ...... but we’re leaving it very late.
You will recall a very talented young group of Everton players coming to the Wham. Derek Adams at Plymouth has taken 4 of them. Hopefully Colts had his targets all along and there will be a flurry of activity soon. Just wish any arrivals could have been part of pre season. |
Re: Signings
Will be very surprised if we don't have any loan players. Can't remember the last season that happened.
Would be great if we could secure Dunne on loan again, but suspect will be sat on bench at burnley with them only having 3 central defenders available. |

I’m with Cashy on this. In fact, I’d prefer it if they never announced the comings and goings until you turn up for the first match of the season and try and work out who the new faces are and who’s been sold.

Re: Signings
All is revealed - Zanzala's back, signed him on a 2 year deal :)
|
Re: Signings
Zanzala back on 2 year deal thats good imho
|
Re: Signings
Makes Saturday's team sheet interesting. I'll go for Zanzala starting in place of Jackson.

Yes.
However if not I just can’t see Kayden being in the right frame of mind. Let’s face it he will be gone before deadline day. |

Why not just tell me to bore off ? |

I have just read online hes asked for a transfer after we have refused £1-75 million?
|
Re: Signings
Just read that too Cashy but it's all rumour & conjecture at the moment, there's only Kayden himself & the club know exactly what's happening - I'm resigned to the fact that we're more than likely going to lose Kayden but until it's signed, sealed & announced officially I'll keep me red tinted glasses on :)

Re: Signings
Meanwhile, we've signed a young defender from Rovers on loan for the season - welcome aboard Matthew Platt :)

It's all getting tedious isn't it ?
The lad's under contract so if the club says no ......... the answer is no. However you're then left with the conundrum of a totally disgruntled player and he will be because earnings wise it would be life changing. There's a long way to go to Thursday. Let's see whose nerve holds. Doesn't look like Ipswich though they are saying they've moved on to other targets. Maybe ..... |
Re: Signings
Zanzala and Platt look like they could very good signings for us.....:)
Just need Jimmy Dunne to sign for another season too... Here'e hoping......:mosher: |

Re: Signings
don't see much difference in Hurst wanting £8m for Waghorn and turning down bids of £5m. to Stanley wanting £2.5m for Jackson and turning down £1.75m, its all a question of how much value is put on a player leaving their club, maybe if an acceptable fee is forth coming for Waghorn, the Jackson fee would be more acceptable

For instance Charlie Wyke. Is Kayden worth £1.5m more ? Jack Marriott. Proven in league one scored more than Kayden is he worth the same ? |
Re: Signings
If Jackson stays another few months, with more attention on him, and he does really well then he could get a better move than Ipswich.
Maybe he sees it this way and is happy to stay for now. he’s already taking his career forward by playing in a higher division than last year. Might do him good. |

I can see Jackson not playing tomorrow, too much of a risk with a season's operating income possible.

His value could take off ..... or head in the opposite direction and another 6 months nearer to expiry of contract. No one’s right no one’s wrong so we’ll all have to wait and see. I’m like Chewbacca thinking he won’t start tomorrow. |

Have I missed summat ? Who is the holder of the 23 shirt in the warm up today ?

Re: Signings
Ipswich town reporter claiming Andy Holt wants £2.5 million for Jackson!
I thought £1.5m was good business, if £2.5m is true then that’s madness but if someone will pay that is great! Can’t help think Stanley have priced him out of a move if that figure is correct, be mental to pay that for a striker unproven beyond the 4th tier. |
Re: Signings
Quote:
|
Re: Signings
Think part of the reason for the 2.5 million pricetag, if true, is due to the hefty slice of the fee that will go to Barnsley. Ipswich were trying to hold out for £8 million for Waghorn for a similar reason as his former club also have a big sell on clause in place
|
Re: Signings

Re: Signings
This sell on clause theory sounds like rubbish to me. Would you buy a house at 25% above the market rate if the seller said he had to split the profits with his mate?

Re: Signings
Dan Jewell says deal with Ipswich likely for Kayden, Dwarfing the fee they payed for janoi, so sadly looks defo that we are losing him, but dosh should be a great aid to putting us on a sound financial footing. yeh cant win em all, but its a damn site better than what used to happen to us imho.

Mangan resigning, not for me. We can't seem to be able to attract a decent goalkeeper which is a big worry.

Re: Signings
Im hoping after today once the transfer window shuts we can bring a keeper in on loan from somewhere. !
Legzdins from Burnley could be a good shout ? Always rated him in the Championship and he aint exactly going to get a game at Turf Moor. |
Re: Signings
Also not convinced by Mangan but happy to be proved wrong. Wondered about Legzdins but thought Pope getting injured had put an end to that. Now they've signed Hart could be a good possibility agin.
|
Re: Signings
All those not happy with Mangan signing are showing little faith in our management team as far as i'm concerned, think with what they have achieved for us thats very poor.they have brought some damn good players into the club oer the years, more good than poor i would suggest.
|
Re: Signings
Mangy has great football league experience that could be invaluable for players like Zanzala, Andrew Scott and Niall Watson!
|
Re: Signings
Is it worth a BET, he gets into double figures for goals.
|
Re: Signings
While I’m not over the moon about Mangan signing, he does have experience in this league and that counts for something. I’m sure he’ll be ready as he’s trained with us all summer. I do hope that Coley gives Zanzala a chance though, as he looks promising to me.

Re: Signings
is it a bit like when the management show faith in a current player who might be experiencing a slight loss of form and other people don't show that same faith?
maybe like, say, when that player is Sean McConville? |

A good few keepers currently without a club, and with most clubs now stocked up with keepers they may have more realistic wage demands. |

We have a keeper!! Season long loan from Middlesbrough - 25 year old Connor Ripley, welcome to Stanley young man :)
Phew!! That was close  |
Re: Signings
We've only gone and signed a keeper!
Connor Ripley on loan from Middlesborough |
Re: Signings
Thats a bit of good news.
|
Re: Signings
He's the son of Stuart Ripley who used to play for Rovers apparently - bit of useless trivia :)
|
Re: Signings
Been loaned out to seven clubs in last 6 seasons. Played 15 games for Bury last season. I’ll check with my mate a staunch Bury fan what he thought.
Wish his dad was a few years younger .........and available ! |
Re: Signings
There were few dull moments when Andy was at Shrewsbury especially his FA Cup goals.
However that was League 2 2015-16. He was used a lot back then as a sub - impact player. We don’t do that here so the plan must be to start him. Fingers crossed ........ |
