My mum used to say it was really small and packed and seemingly cheap at the time
I worked there after school and Saturdays.

Re: do you remember.....?

The burnt down Glynn Webbs was once Asda (opened 1961) but before that it was Nightingales car showroom - hence the ramp for getting the car to the display area.
See the Cinema thread for more details about the original use of the buildings in that area

You are confused - the Queens is the bingo hall on the other corner at the top of Oxford St -- which used to be the coop --alll will be clear if you read that 'Cinema' thread

That bingo hall was also owned by Fred Skinner, who also had bingo places in Great Harwood, Clayton, Padiham, and Bury

I've still got one of those in a box in my wardrobes. There are about a dozen games too.

One day, when I pluck up the courage to empty the bottom of those wardrobes, I may well come up with much more than the Atari. I have a feeling Lord Lucan may have been in there at some time.
