Unfortunately this may not be the best solution then, mine gets a bit "twitchy" when he hears it crack near him ! and then he works out what's coming and won't let us brush him !
Its worth a fiver...

In that case the best way is to slave the harddrive in another machine and just browse it to recover the files.

For some odd reason we use these jokers at work...

They are proper useless, occasionally they do OK but more often than not stuff ends up all over the place.

They are also known for "knocking"...

With regards to task manager, just look under the "performance" tab, if any of these look to be maxed out then its "resource" hungry, this would involve finding what hoggin all the resources and...

And as a side note, just check the fan for "gunk" sometimes they build up with allsorts of deposits in there...

Also as mentioned if the correct drivers and not install for the video card, it...
