Re: Weatherspoons Pub coming to Accy???
There are about 800 pubs in the Wetherspoons empire; that works out at about 1.25 for every parliamentary constituency in the UK. Hyndburn must probabaly be one of the last places in the UK to have one (maybe Inner Mucky in the Outer Hebrides is one place that does not).
Over the years, I have probably been in about 40 or 50 of these places, and they are all the same - bland and boring. If Real Ale is your thing, then you may of heard of it's reputation, but quite honestly, any pint of real ale you get there would probably be best served by splashing it over your dodgy Wetherspoons Vietnamese Cobbler fish and chips than attempting to drink it. I've seen similar levels of excitement on here when the latest kebab bar has opened. No doubt you'll enjoy this rubbish as much as you'll enjoy that. So - Bon appetite - and try not to choke on it, because I would like to see you back on here. |
Re: Weatherspoons Pub coming to Accy???
It will be on a par with the Calder and lots of other establishments of that ilk.......as I said in a previous post, you may be lucky enough to live where there is more choice.......but to be honest, Accrington can only support so many of these places and the places that you would likely visit would perhaps not find the kind of custom to keep them afloat.
I don't suppose you do cheap and cheerful do you? |
Re: Weatherspoons Pub coming to Accy???
I agree with Margaret, it is much better than a nice building being left empty.
We dont have that many pubs in the town centre any more and a new one is welcomed. I for one will be popping in later in the week and if I like it and its comfy I will be stopping for more than one drink! ;) |
Re: Weatherspoons Pub coming to Accy???
Just a thread wonder, I was talking to the Landlord and Landlady of the Talbot In Church St Burnley yesterday, if you like real ale that's the place to go, they won the northwest pub of the year last week from Camera, well worth the trip

So I wonder which will be first to go in Accy - Tesco's or Wetherspoons? Maybe it's worth starting a new thread on which will shut first. Pubs are normally shut when the only punters left are the riff-raff and from what I have read on here, the Accy branch of Wetherspoons is already full of 'em. |

Re: Weatherspoons Pub coming to Accy???
Two threads on Weatherspoons, very confusing. This was the original so I will reply to this, been in, loved it! And, the garden outside is very very nice.

Re: Weatherspoons Pub coming to Accy???
oh Atarah, don't tell Tealeaf....it is his opinion that the place is only frequented by chavs, ne'er do wells, and of course people who are not worthy of anything that comes close to respect.
In fact, to hear him talk, it is the bottom step of the slippery slope. |
Re: Weatherspoons Pub coming to Accy???
