What the hell is a Weatherspoons? I know I could google it, but I'd rather here it from you guys.

Re: Weatherspoons Pub coming to Accy???
A chain of pubs that depends as much, if not more, on selling meals as well as booze.
There is a standard menu in every one, which, to me, reeks of extensive use of microwave ovens and the ingredients pre-prepared elsewhere:eek: |

I just hope that if people go in Monday or Wednesday they remeber to go for a pee before leaving, don't want them wandering round town looking for a bucket do we :)

Bang on the money Eric. Rubbish at being a pub and when you hear the ding your fancy meal is cooked. :D:D:D:D

That 'ding' is a death knell. The food is 'nuked' and harms your body instead of nourishing it.

Re: Weatherspoons Pub coming to Accy???
Putting aside the doomsaying for a moment.....
Whether they like to think it or not, pubs very much need one another in a town centre because far from being competition it is viewed as something else to draw punters in. Bamber Bridge near Preston is a case in point; one by one the pubs started closing, isolating pockets of the town and making the old pub crawl quite a fair old trek without a pint. For anyone who doesn't know Bamber Bridge, it's at the end of the M65 and about a mile and half long from one end to the other, at one time lined from end to end with drinking houses. I'd welcome a Wetherspoons in Accy, it would probably tempt me to go out drinking there of a weekend and certainly be a big draw after lengthy council meetings. There's no frills which keeps costs down, the food is decent and they support microbreweries by always having dozens of real ales on. We could do with Wetherspoons looking to invest in villages, it's the panic button for local pubs. |
