Re: Holland's Pies to be made in Ireland?

The rumours at the time were that she'd ended up in a kebab rather than in a Holland's pie.

I remember when she first went missing and the posters were put up in town asking if anyone had seen her, hoping that maybe she'd had an accident and suffered amnesia or something. I remember saying to my daughter that I hope they find her and that she's OK. It was awful to hear that she'd been murdered. A very gruesome end.

and i leave 5 mins away from there!!!! Hollands pies it used to be families that worked there - now its not. I wonder does this mean less vans going out between 5 & 5.30am? By the way did you know Hollands also make Lasagne and spaghetti bolognese? I used to do a yearly quiz night for the school to raise money in the pub and i sent my begging letters out everywhere and anyway Hollands pies rang me up asking what did i want them to donate. I just said i'd have anything they had that was suitable for a prize for a raffle and they said they'd have some stuff waiting for me at reception the following day. So the following day goes up there and there was 2 carrier bags - one with 3 dinky toys hollands vans and a bottle of wine, the other had 2 catering size lasagnes in! I sold the lasagnes for £5 each!!! lol

One thing you can bet on, there will be some EEC cash on offer to create a few jobs, these products are I am led to believe are frozen unbaked variety usually destined for supermarkets. Regardless of the double talk put out by Hollands (pro) people, if they could deliver fresh products to shops, chippies and the like they would move the lot for a bit of free cash. Northern Foods don't give two hoots who or where they make their products, look what they did to the bakery in Manchester. Thank the Lord for the Irish Sea otherwise your pie from chippy would come from 'over there'. Large companies follow 'subsidies and grants, free rate and rent for 10 years and then move on,' This shower are no different than the rest of the asset strippers that now control so called business.

They do make them frozen ian but they also make them fresh because they are the ones that go out on the vans every morning. Mum used to buy them off the vans in the morning when she was going to the shop.

Don't misunderstand me shillelagh, the section being moved is the unbaked 'for freezing' section correct me if im wrong. The point I was making was if you could deliver same day fresh to shops over here, from Ireland, they would have moved it all.

The missus works at Hollands & doesn't know if her job is safe as they are making employees redundant on some kind of points system:confused: She should know by the end of Feb.Tey've recently been working 24/7 to get an order out for Asda,so its come as a bit of a shock. She reckons it won't be the end of it.Has anyone seen they're "proper pies" range? If they spent a bit less on all the fancy packaging they might not be in this position.
