The market is at least two porters down (unreplaced after they left/retired) also a part-time cleaner down (retired and unreplaced). The new workload for those remaining involves cleaning all the new glass surrounding the balcony, the new staircase, the new balcony itself, three new toilet areas (public toilets and disabled toilet), the new lift and probably a few other bits that I cant think of right now.

The hall floor used to be cleaned every Wednesday(wet cleaned , scrubbed and the residue sucked up using a machine) also on Sunday. Not allowed to do that when the place is open to the public. That machine is now defunct, due to the nature of the floor.. Apparently a new machine is being sourced, If its up to the task maybe it will get a quick push around.

Main point of my post is that the Market Hall is understaffed, folk have left, retired… whatever, workload has been bumped right up

Points 12-16 of the Hyndburn Market Handbook deal with this:

If there really was a demand for 6 day opening from the general public, why would the traders fight against it? They are the ones who would profit most from it.

I would go with the traders who know their own business. The Council will never succeed by co-ercion.
