Oh, jaysay, why did you put your usual defence on?
Can you not put a different tune on your record player?
The one I use is far more relevant and mines a good old fashioned wind up!

Retlaw.

I mustn't.

Already this week I've had more column inches in the Lancashire Telegraph than he has.

If I push it any further I'll be wearing a flak jacket up at Scaitcliffe House tomorrow.

The major kick off will probably be tomorrow morning at the Cabinet meeting. Apparently, I'm likely to get a roasting for my despicable comments. I am just a new boy after all, as was pointed out in the House in July by the Leader of the Council.

You wouldn't think that a councillor of just four months would be able to ruffle a council leader with such a wealth of experience, would you?

Yes, actually I would, given honesty, sincerity and the will to do good for his electorate, go for it, please, I like many others will wait on the sidelines hoping at last the town has a Messiah.

It would be nice if we have.
:)

Does he need an invitation?

After all he's already gone to the trouble of joining this forum.

Here's his profile.

http://www.accringtonweb.com/forum/m...ffice-hbc.html

He's even made two posts.

http://www.accringtonweb.com/forum/f...tml#post701192

http://www.accringtonweb.com/forum/f...tml#post691676

Though sadly his last post was in April 2009, he's recently left this message on his profile, just a few months ago...

Part 1

All current County Councillors for Hyndburn were invited to the Armed Services Day parade, including Graham Jones. All except one at the time (County Councillor Younis) were also members of Hyndburn District Council and their invitations were addressed to them in that capacity. County Cllr Younis was invited in his County Council capacity.

We received replies from all the County Councillors except for Graham Jones. However, we understand that Graham was aware of the parade as, a few days before, we were told by Councillor Pam Barton, the Labour Group Chief Whip, that he would not be attending.

Part 2

The Council’s civic protocol does accord Hyndburn’s MP a place in the order of precedence at civic events. We had been told that Graham Jones would not be attending the parade and the staff marshalling the event were not expecting him to be there. We are very sorry that Graham wasn’t accorded the appropriate priority, but we are very pleased that he was able to attend this important act of remembrance.

The Council did not provide a wreath for the MP, but it has never been our practice to do so. For example, we do not provide a wreath for the MP at events such as Remembrance Sunday. We only provide wreathes for Council representatives, such as the Mayor, the Leader and the Leader of the Opposition. It would be up to the MP's own office to provide the wreath for these occasions.

So you see, he really doesn't need an invite, because he's already here.

He walks amongst us.
