So he's dead, whether it happened years ago & been kept quiet to perpetuate the belief of the war on terror & allow the use of armed forces in places such as Afghanistan or only the other day by special forces (SEALS) in a hideout in Pakistan (an ally in the hunt for terrorists ?), the "benefit" is negligible.

There will always be someone somewhere, who is willing to step up & take over the mantle of public enemy#1. The threat needs a face, this makes it easier to vindicate any actions carried out by a government in the name of protection. Likewise the terrorists need their martyrs & leaders to encourage a steady flow of converts & believers, OBL was their figurehead, an example used to keep the hatred afire.

Whatever the actual facts it's now in the public domain that he's dead, but what's to follow as surely somebody will, we can only hope they're quickly identified so at least we're aware of where the threat is coming from. In this turbulent World though we still need to remain ever vigilant.

Just got home from a very nice flight back from Spain. 6 pages and most of it Margaret!
Just a thought for those of you who disbelieve, I see Al Jazzera or even the internet has no speeches from Bin Laden. Maybe the US got it right.
Anyway back to my Champagne, a good day for the world.

Yes I certainly did, twas in Burnley General, 1984, I could see myself led on the bed with two doctors and three nurses trying to infuse drugs into me and was surrounded with white light, but I'd no intention of dying in Dingle land and made a recovery:D
