Just a thought for those of you who disbelieve, I see Al Jazzera or even the internet has no speeches from Bin Laden. Maybe the US got it right.
Anyway back to my Champagne, a good day for the world.

I thought I would just point out the fact that MargaretR has posted 21 posts to this thread.....while I have posted 10(well, 11 if you count this one).

I don't disbelieve the reports that he is dead.......I'm just not sure that this was the right way to deal with him.
The news bulletin said that he had been buried at sea to prevent his grave becoming a place for pilgrimage....but won't the place where he was killed become a focus for that pursuit?

I think that him being killed is like the killing of the mythical Hydra.......other heads will grow in its place.......and the muslim fanatics and terrorists will just seek to avenge his death.

It's more than interesting, it's revolutionary: a quiet revolution Canadian style. The politicians told us that the election was about the economy, getting tough on crime, buying $30 billion worht of fighter jets, stimulating growth by cutting corporate tax rates. Candians said, "BS": it's about health care, education, security for seniors, higher taxes for those who make the most, esp. big corporations:alright:
I realize that this is a major "wander"; but a seperate thread about Canadian politics would end up being even shorter than "The Complete Dictionary of Italian War Heroes."

I know its a thread wander, but it looks like the left are set to make gains in Canada. Out of interest Eric, Michael Ignatieff the Liberal leader in Canada, is he the historian who spent a lot of time in this Country.

Re: Bin Laden..... Killed in Pakistan

The existence of a Bogeyman of some kind maintains the need for a partial suspension of civil liberties e.g. Aren't we lucky to have Guantanamo? Otherwise we would never have found out the name of Bin Laden's trusted courier.

Also I'm really confused about how to react. I do not think that he was a major player anymore -getting his communications by carrier pigeon would negate his effectiveness somewhat. However I cannot shrug off that feeling that I get when the joyrider comes to grief on "Police, Camera, Action".

Not to worry something else will come along to grab our collective attention soon.

Dear Egg and Chips,
Yesterday I used a Satellite Phone on my flight back to the UK, the reception was crystal clear and more importantly is it a pay as you go hand held mobile phone.
Just a thought

Re: Bin Laden..... Killed in Pakistan

Didn't he once say something about Muslims not fearing/loving death? Is that why he used his youngest wife as a shield?
No paradise(and all its' joys) for him then.

And hasn't Pakistan got some serious questions to answer?
We should withdraw the 650 million pounds of aid that we give to that country.
