Re: An Open Invitation to Cllr Britcliffe

Has he shown up yet? Britcliffe that is.

This thread is getting to be like "En Attendant Godot", and if he shows up, he will probably come on like Pozzo.

I was responding to your comment about letters I sent to the press when I was Peter's agent, something I wasn't for a start, was his secretary/ Press Officer, incidentally I wasn't even on the Internet in those days, I have had no involvement with Peter, politically since 2001, when I quit politics completely through ill health, if politics weren't part of the staple diet on here I wouldn't bother at all, for in my case life really is too short

I'm afraid not, Eric. It seems that my upfront approach has not gone down well at Castle Britcliffe.

Mind you, a letter from the market traders is more likely to cause a stink today, particularly since there are signatures on there that Cllrs Britcliffe and Haworth might not wish to have seen. All but two are now against it but I'm still intrigued as to which market traders wrote in with their support for 6 day trading since Cllr Haworth's envelope of letters was quite thick.

Perhaps they changed their minds.

That depends on two things:

1) Whether he's been prepped on how to respond by the local party.

2) If there's a chapter on it in one of those Political Studies textbooks.

I shouldn't take the mickey really, I was a student myself for many years, but there does come a point where you have to realise that you can't learn about real life in Lancashire from a textbook written in Oxford.

If Peter Britcliffe accepted the invitation to discuss by means of Accy Web , would he be given a fair hearing ?

Would members listen to what he actually says before jumping down his throat ?

Oh some certainly would, though some may like to grab his throat.

I don't reckon we need to worry whether he gets a fair hearing....I don't think it will ever happen.

3) Maybe I just won't respond to someone who enjoys:

1) patronising people
2) negative politics
3) Using 1&2 towards someone because of their party, rather than thoughts, on the subject.

Or maybe you will respond, but turn up to the gig with nothing to offer except bluster:-

My comments never mentioned letters to the press, they were letters direct to me. Please read carefully.

All depends on how he comes across, doesn't it.

Andrew, you have never once replied to anyone without giving a sit-on-the-fence answer or just completely dodging the question by bringing something else up. It has nothing to do with Conservatives vs Labour and it doesn't surprise me one bit that you get such a rough time on this forum.

You mentioned the General election went PB was candidate that was 1997 and 2001, neither PB or myself were on the Internet in either of those elections, and I certainly never received any letters from you nor did PB as I handled all the mail

I beg to differ, but you don't even know my full name or address so how can you deny receiving anything?...I did actually get one reply which I challenged, but heard nothing further.
