Re: Today in pictures
No Dianne.......I don't drive him mad with taking pictures.......I leave him at home.
I get giddy with delight when I visit somewhere new........I sometimes forget to eat, so wrapped up am I in the pursuit of a 'good frame'....a different angle. What does drive him mad is when I secrete myself in the back bedroom looking through the pics...playing with them, editing them, posting them. This activity costs practically nothing, and gives me hours of pleasure.......I don't know how he would react if I took up Bingo, or carousing in the local ale houses. :D:D |

What I do find is that sometimes I wish I didn't have the camera as it can get in the way of actually enjoying a place - but I keep taking pictures! But they are always secondary to my exploration, usually just snapshots, not considered pictures. Another thing I've found is, especially when we went to Italy in 2009, is that sometimes you can do too much research on the internet. We went to several places and I felt as though I'd been there already as I'd read so much about them. So now I try not to delve too deeply before I go so there is some aspect of discovery when I get there. |

I think I do consider my pictures more now that I used to....and certainly if the visit is a return one. I frequently look at my pictures.....especially in winter when the days are a bit grey and dismal. It allows me to re-live the visits I have made. As for internet research....I just look at places that I might like to visit. Just to get a 'flavour' of the place...and I look at maps of how to get where I want to go. Strangely, once I have looked at a map I rarely need to refer to it again......I can picture it in my head(this only refers to street maps). |

And I have to have a street map if I'm in a new place - then I don't have to worry about getting lost. And like you, I can usually carry it in my head. |

Today in Pictures, another wet day, but we still managed to yomp from Mill Lane to Martholm Lane along the woodland project.
1. Here we go. 2. through to 7. I have never found as many different fungi in one outing before, the last one reminds me of Mick Jagger. 8. Our destination, its fenced off, so not able to walk along the top. 9. From t'other side. 10. And at this point we set off back, it is still raining. |
Re: Today in pictures
Great set today Dave - love Mick Jagger. And the two with the viaduct and a carefully placed piece of foliage bottom left in each shot!
All no 6 needs is a few fairies! |

Brilliant Kestrelx. Love 3&4
Well shot! |
Re: Today in pictures
Another great set there Kes. Love the owls - but are you sure the baby one isn't a feather duster? And the mandarin drake - looks as though he's been cut out of coloured paper... so sculptured.

I helped fence the Read side off when I worked on the farm at the other end. The old track bed was bought by the farmer many years ago and is private land. It helps to stop the robbers coming onto the caravan park when it is closed and stealing. I will have a look through my collection of old photos and see if I can find any taken on the viaduct. I know they are a few years old and not "today in pictured" which your thread is about but you may find them interesting. |
