I really enjoy your photos, Davemac. I'm able to walk with you, vicariously that is. Reminds me of the early 60s living and playing in Priestly Clough. I kept a nature table in my bedroom!

Glad my photos hit the spot, I have posted on this thread a lot of pictures around Priestly Clough and Shoe mill Baxenden, going up the Woodnook Vale path (old railway line) and back down the Clough. You might have to go back a few pages to find them as I haven't been up that way for a few weeks. |

Back to the center of Rome and the Colloseum and Foro Romano! The cross in the Colloseum was donated for the Millenium by Pope John-Paul II in memory of the Christian martyrs who died there. Odd to think what used to be considered a family day out and entertainment! The mosaic was part of a large display of Roman artefacts from the era of Constantine. The picture scratched on the wall of the Colloseum shows a Gladiator with his shield. It is a very atmospheric place to visit and vibrates with history -only thing spoiling it are the hoardes of tourists!! :v

I think the first photograph of the cat deserves the prize for best of the rest. Great shot, well done. |

Today in Pictures is a slight departure from the "today" theme, for two reasons, the weather has been pants and despite taking my camera with me, no scenes presented themselves. The second, my walks have had a second pooch on our journeys, she lived with us for a couple of weeks when one of her owners died. She has now gone back home, but from time to time still joins our mooching. So as a one off posting I give you a selection of snaps taken from that period, Bob and Bonnie bombing around the borough and beyond.

Final day in Rome in the beautiful park of Villa Borghese. Great place for escaping the crowds and keeping cool. I think it is the most beautiful park I've ever been in. We hoped to get into the Gallery which houses 5 Bernini statues, paintings by Caravaggio, Domenichini and Rubens among others but it was prebooked for the following 10 days! So a good idea to pre-book your tickets in advance if you ever go there. The following link has loads of other photos - it really is a huge place and I didn't see half the things that are there I now realise -just means I'll have to go back again! http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel...hese-BR-1.html
