Accrington walks to download and print FREE! Is one I looked at, but most of the walks I found just by following the public footpath signs. I have occasionally found myself in the middle of a field with no obvious way forward, but most of the time found bits of the area I have never seen before.

3. A glance back, should I have brought a coat?
4. Last burst from Hawthorn, they go pink with age.
5. Sat in the river.
6. Heading for Cock Bridge.
7. Heading back to the path home.
8. Don't know what this is, but it hides in the long grass.
9. Almost at the left turn and uphill.
10. And through a field of short grass, and tall thistles.

No 8, because of the intense blue colour, is known as "Occhi della madonna" in Italy - the Madonna's eyes (Jesus's mother -not "Madge" the singer!) . It is a "Veronica".

First set of shots from my trip this week to Rome. It was scorching hot and heaving with tourists so not easy to be out and about.

1 St Peter's Square and Basilica
2 The colonnades
3 Swiss guard
4 Nun's with baseball caps!
5 Shades of the Thornbirds (very handsome priest!) ;) :D
6 His billowing cassock (my dream-shot almost too good to be true!)
7 Drinking fountain under assault
8 Restorer at work on the face of the Basilica
9 The crowds queueing to go in
10 More nuns -different habits (they were brown wool and wearing several layers in 36°C heat!!)

Have you been to Rome before Dianne? Did you go into St Peter's?

The only 36 around here just now is not the temperature but the windspeed in MPH outside my window.

Thanks for the picture of the top of the coppice, it's a thing I don't think I will ever see unless, of course, a 4X4 will go up there.
