Today in Pictures, an early start and a late finish, I hope I get overtime for all this.
1. Parked up and off to the left. 2. From here you can see the Coppice, Moleside, and Hameldon. 3. Thats the blunt end of "Ossy" moors, the bit that looks down on Haslingden. 4. Can you tell where I am yet. (The Halo, Haslingden.) 5. Gazing down the valley, you can just see Manchester in the distance. 6. Hours later I'm skipping through the woodlands. 7.Its still a poor show for the bluebells. 8. That gate was the turnaround point. 9. Down the slope to the car. 10. Here we are back on the path out of Hameldon woods. |

A selection of photos from my early afternoon walk around the farm. A few showing yesterday's new snowfall in the Alps -is it really the end of May?

As promised, a few photos from the 40's weekend on the East Lancs Railway.
I found it hard to make up my mind to go, me and my late wife were regulars on the East Lancs Railway and a lot of the staff knew us through taking the guide dog puppies there, one or two asked where she was which was very upsetting for me. One consolation was I got to ride up and down for nothing as I still have a few complimentary tickets we had given. The two ladies saw my point my camera through the carriage window and obliged with a wave. Photo 1 was taken at Bury and photo 6 at Ramsbottom, both very good singers who were singing the old war time favourites. I took a lot more photographs but I have posted my quota for today. |

Russell I'm glad you plucked up your courage to go, that's another step along the road for you. Keep at it, sorry I haven't been in touch but I haven't been too good myself as you will see if you read my thread in Anything Goes. |

Today in Pictures, A walk I thought would only be about an hour turned into over two, and even then I didn't cover all the area. More of a surprise was that I didn't know it was here, and how big an area it covered.
1. Start point, the signal box at Huncoat. 2. A left turn takes you into the Colliery site. 3. Some fragments of buildings remain, but not enough to say what they were. 4. Taking a right turn over a style, it opens up to huge area. 5. Wild flowers abound. 6. Not many Buttercups though. 7. Grass seed heads, I have no idea what variety. 8. Mayflowers. 9. I found a wooded stream. 10. A hidden gem, that requires a return visit. I have used my allocation for today, so as I will be busy for the next two days will post the remainder then, the stream and beyond. (check the panoramic thread for a few more) |
