It's a young slug climbing out of a planter.

The spider was taken a few feet away with a good whack of zoom. I can't kill insects.....I just don't like them.(I don't go screaming and running for the nearest male - I suppose my fear, or dislike is controlled in that respect)
I accept that many of them have a job to do....even if that job is only to provde food for friends of the garden.
I couldn't be a bee keeper. I know my limitations.

Good for you Margaret - at least you don't turn into a wilting female - and many people's reactions would be to kill indiscriminately. And don't forget, without insects such as bees we wouldn't have many of our fruit crops etc - so they really do have a job to do.

I haven't ever been that Sue.
I think most of my dislike of insects stems from having five younger brothers.
They once collected hundreds of insects, moths, butterflies Daddy longlegs and the like(we lived in a very rural area and they were easy to come by)...these they released into my attic bedroom....and I had to go up the stairs to my room to switch on the light. Once the light was on all these insects sprang to life.
You can imagine the scene with all these insects flying round my head.....boy did they get a 'leathering' off my dad.

Sounds hilarious but I'm certain it wasn't!

I was proper scared of them...even though they were dead and in glass cases.

They used to have a small case of pinned moths and butterflies in one of the dining rooms at the Walton Arms - I couldn't go into the room! I have a total phobia about moths and go into a major panic if one is in the house - I can't bear to even look at photos or drawings of them. I'm also of the same mind but not as bad about all flying things including birds, and I can't bear bluebottles. If I sit outside in the sun I have to have a can of fly spray handy! Perhaps I have 'issues'!

I suppose looking back it was quite funny...the lads certainly thought so...they were watching as I switched the lights on...I don't think they found it quite so funny when Dad was paddling their back sides with a slipper.

Glad to hear someone finds my present home town worth visiting... and yes it has been a lovely day here. Shame I had to spend half of it in Preston!

I did in 2010, it was the only place that had a tackle shop selling the "Preston X6 seat box" & he only charged me 300 quid instead of 350, so I'm not so averse to the place. :)

Mind you, it was a proper nightmare trying to get out again & back to Liverpool.

I guess you're talking about the road through to Lancaster and the M6. That's the main reason we chose to live in Morecambe rather than Lancaster - my other half works at the power station in Heysham and now he only has to drive a few miles along the sea front rather than through from Lancaster.

BTW was the tackle shop a little place next to a Spar shop just off the northern end of the prom? If so it's just round the corner from our house!
