Canada Day - when all we proud Canucks get out to brave the elements (30 degree heat and threatening skies in this case), dress in red, and generally act daft.
1. Waiting for the real hotties to parade by.
2. What is it about firemen? Any theories ladies?
3. Too hot to dance. I'm DISAPPOINTED! I wait all year for these 'strapping lads' to do their thing and well, this heat will get to anyone.
4. Patriotic car - well, at least the colour is correct.
5. I like this one much better :)
6. Some day, my lad, you can dress in red like me!
7. Bring on the free candies!
8. Watch out! Never walk round the back of a horse.
9. Wait for Meeeeeeee!
10. Exhausted from the heat, and dying of hunger (as if!) hubby and I indulged in the demon poutine. Oh, we also had burgers. Yum! Now comes the heartburn :(

That poutine looks a required taste, and a certain amount of bravery putting it in your mouth, unless I am doing it a disservice, perhaps the smell makes it appetising ?

It's just chips and gravy with cheese curds melted on top:)
Ooey gooey good. But not for everyone, I guess! They also make fancy versions, but I like it plain hah hah. Well, once a year, anyway.

Great shots, gpick - I really like that golden evening light, and you captured it perfectly :)

I was out too ... Still trying to piece together what I got up to;) ... But a great day ... lot's of red and white ... flags all over the place ... I vaguely remember a couple of CF18 Hornets buzzing around, and fireworks at Fort Henry. Didn't take my little camera ... things tend to get left in bars on days like Canada Day.:D

Today in Pictures, once the top end of the brick works (Nori)

1. Now thats going to hurt.
2. Six Spot Burnet, there time is coming to an end, they are starting to loose colour and condition.
3. I think this pond was where they dumped excess water from the process.
4. Birds Foot Trefoil, note the tendrils around the seed head to assist its move to the light.
5. Well, roll me over.
6. Hawkbit seed head.
7. Soldier Beetles, and I don't think they are fighting.
8. I don't come across this very often, Foxes and Cubs...Orange Hawkweed.
9. Common Spotted Orchid, in amongst the Brambles.
10. A neglected corner of a field, and as a consequence things dominate, a whole herd of Orchids hidden among the grass and buttercups.

Todays pics are a bit repetative, but you don`t often find yourself in a scene from watership down.

Duke was having right hissy fit because I wouldn`t let him loose on them.

I was wondering about that, thought the hounds would be going daft wanting to chase things as they do. :)

Just had a bit of a catch up - what a lovely feel the parades had both in Accy and in Canada (number 2 is my favourite of yours Turtle ;) ) What a great selection of photos from all - a feast for the eyes.
I've just sorted out some more from my day out on Sunday - a visit inside the basement of the old hospital/Geology museum in Castel Arquato which is an art gallery run by a slightly dotty but very friendly sculptor. All the sculptures are his and he displays and sells paintings for young artists. There's a photo of him with a couple of other visitors by his sculpture 'The Lovers' and he features in another portrait which was done of him when younger, displayed in a corner with an old stone which bears the town emblem. The central mahoganny sulpture is called "The Dive" and is really clever - he is self taught and I took a photo of something he's working on at the moment in a corner. The basement has amazing vaults and dates back to the 1400's - it still contains some old display cases from the museum of fossilized shells found on the plains where I now live which used to be covered by the sea 10,00 years ago. I also like the small piece of sculpture in number 9 which is called 'Raccoglimento' - translates to something like meditation/introspection...I sould have asked how much it cost!
