Today in Pictures, I am not totaly sure where I am, nothing new there then I here you say, however it was a tad close to Green Haworth, and Priestly Clough in equal distance.
1. An old cart track that when I was a lad went down to Priestly clough over the railway bridge and onto Hollins Lane. 2. Same track, further up and facing the other way, the Coppice is off to the right. 3. As we head up the track Baxenden is off to the right. 4. Looking across to the other side, this track used to go up the other side until a mad farmer knocked the bridge down that goes through Priestly clough. (allegedly) . 5. Decisions decisions. 6. Visible from many areas around town, but never really noticed. 7. A row of cottages so far from the road you would not know they were here, I didn't. 8. Far to many windows for it to be just a barn. 9. Plus the number and size of the doors suggest to me possible farm hand accommodation. 10. Final shot, then its back down the way we came. |

Hey ... guess what .... more snow:eek: Again, random, unplanned, un-aimed shots ... I'm too cold, too shoveled out, and too p.o.'d. Good new is: it's a tad warmer. Bad news is: following the low that brought the snow is another Arctic front. Down to -25+ tonite.:alright:

Re: Today in pictures
That is just how I like my snow...on other folks pictures.......sorry Eric, it can't be any fun having all that cold, white stuff dumped on you.

Today in Pictures started off from Read Hall again, but this time through the buildings complex and out the other side.
1. Up the main drive to the Hall, now separately owned buildings. 2. With the buildings behind me a look back down the drive. 3. Through the estate and out the other side brings us to Old Roman Road.. 4. We are now dropping down in the vicinity of Sabden. 5. Looking in the direction of the Nab. 6. There's always a wet bit. 7. This stream is sourced back to the overflow from Churn Clough Reservoir and the streams that filter off Pendle Hill. 8. Looking at the erosion of the banking it must get a large amount of water flowing down when its at capacity. 9. Then as we headed up the next hill to Whalley these came over to see what we were doing. 10. Then as the sun was skimming the horizon we dropped down to Spring Wood |

Number 2 is a lovely shot. The sight of all that greenery has made me giddy!
I like the llamas too :) |

Left the car on the Black Abbey car park last night so a misty walk back to get it this morning over Whinney Hill and the Coppice.
Hambledon and the Coppice in the morning mist. Huncoat railway crossing and station. The Railway pub (Atarah sowed the seeds by telling me the Blockade was being demolished this week) The Black Bull The White Bull not a pub any more but a magnificent building. Griffins Head. One of the 3 Lodges, to think we swam in there as kids !! The bridge over the Pleck Ravine. Pleck Ravine. The cobbles on Plantation Road down past Arden Hall. Is there a longer or finer stretch of cobble sets remaining in the town? Back to the Abbey (looks better outside than in) "see next post for the last 2 pics" |
