Correct me if im wrong but if it was for research only as stated would it not be wrong to publish this info as it to me then looks as some other motive was used like some think may be hes better keeping it to himself or have a got the wrong end of the stick.

People i believe where suspicious to the motive but if andrew doesnt publish it as requested then to me that surely shows the real reason was for the research.and all the accusations would be wrong as to the motive.

Why should he e-mail all councillors? Bringing it into the public eye like this makes a mockery of the act in the first place IMO. Makes me wonder if it wasn't set up to cause debates like this and therefore take the focus off bigger issues.

many doubted the reasons turkish delight as the thread has shown rightly or wrongly. if it was myself i would consider my credibility, at the end of the day public life needs it.

It matters because it is a fact that very recently a group of Conservative Councillors on Hyndburn Borough Council chose to ignore the recommended limits for councillor's allowances, recommended allowances from an independent body, after they'd assessed our councillor's needs.

The scandal is that they chose to award themselves this increase at a time when many families are struggling to paytheir Council Tax bills because of the worldwide recession we're experiencing.

This comes a year or so after the Conservative leader of the council voted to award himself what was basically a 20% increase in what he can claim as leader.

You may think this a good example, and a reason to vote Conservative in Hyndburn. I certainly do not.

If you're interested in gaining more than a passing interest in local politics, both stories are freely available on the Accrington Observer website.

Search for 'council leader expenses', and it'll bring up both stories.

He found time away from his studies to freely request it.

It should take very little time to freely publish it here.

It's probably just pure coincidence that a couple of weeks after the political party he's a member of made newspaper headlines, by voting to award themselves expense allowances above those recommended by an independent panel, that he decided to request information relating to those councillors in opposition.

Only a fool would think otherwise, or a parent, say.

Call us all cynical, but people have been sniffing out Billy Bill Shutters on here since before Andrew was still in short trousers. ;)

as far as i'm aware n independent bodies recommendation is usually acceptable. seems to me yer now looking fer reasons not to read the observer links, mind a couple of posts ago is a lifetime.
