Re: Anyone made a secret Freedom Of Info request about me ? Andrew?
By the way, I totally refute the claim I am anyone's 'sparring partner'.
As a purely independent observer of the comings and goings of life, with no political allegiance to any party, I'm free to speak all by my lonesome. :) |

I always say that if you're going to shoot yourself in the foot, you might as well shoot the other one as well.
So at least you end up with symmetrical injuries. :rofl38::rofl38::rofl38: |
Re: Anyone made a secret Freedom Of Info request about me ? Andrew?
I owe Andrew a small apology. The Council email I got said an FOI had been put on (just) me by Andrew Barratt and the answer I received only contained my ex's, no-one else's.
Upon clarification, I now know Andrew submitted an unclear question and later a second clear question asking for ALL councillors ex's. I apologise to Andrew for believing he was targeting just me. He asked about Conservative, Labour, Independent Councillors. I'll leave it up to Andrew (who'll receive the answers tomorrow) to decide whether to publish all, part or none of the information he has received. In short they will say, 7.5% of Council Tax goes on allowances (2% of overall expenditure). £278,000 in allowances. This figure does not include expenses. £88,000 goes to 17 opposition Councillors, £190,000 to 18 Conservatives. Expenses will include Conferences, Hotels, Travel. Mileage per month, Childcare and Mobile phone expenses. These may make interesting reading. |

Andrew, I'll save you the job of publishing mine, in 2007/2008 I claimed basic allowance and a Special Responsibility Allowance for being Secretary of the Labour Group, this came to a total of £4960.93

Well, you must have been a wealthy man then Cashy not to claim expenses. They are there to allow a lower paid 'working man' to become a councillor without any hardships so that they can get on with their position, rather than worry about money.
Not claiming, if you have used these services in the role of Councillor, is just self-satisfying smugness in my opinion and leads others on the road to guilt trip for doing so. |

If people chose not to use their allowance they are free to do so. Just as conversley people have every right to claim them, both legally and morally. No problem. My beef is the continuing rises of allowances, above and beyond independently recomended limits. My advice to whoever thought this was a good idea, given the severe global financial crisis, is don't ever apply for a job in P.R., should you ever be seeking new employment. |
