What do you mean by transparent?

They did not hide anything, just did not want to give them a vote.

I wish one of those involved would explain why as we only have one side of the debate to go on.

We're being given verbal figures stating how many are in favour/against/want the option but there has been nothing in print to back this up. I present the council with hard evidence, signed by all the traders bar one, and it is rejected as inadmissable.

I would welcome a Tory councillor's viewpoint. Cllrs Britcliffe and Haworth quote my posts verbatim in council so why not respond on this forum? I don't go for a 'smoke and mirrors' approach to running the borough and am quite happy to be proven wrong on any issue which provides evidence to say that I am.

I wonder how long I would have lasted on AccyWeb if I had posted as a Rishton councillor in the third person, as if dictating my musings to one of my minions to post on my behalf.

Probably about three posts, one of which I would request to be deleted.

Whats up now Jay? Too open for you?

Don't worry, accyweb is only a 'chat forum', the big mistakes are still being made down town.

:)

Tie a yellow ribbon on a pompous lapel.

Sorry Jaysay but I was defeated at council, there's no vote for the traders, much as I would have hoped for one. The Conservatives were so sure that the traders wanted 6-day trading that they refused to let them say so democratically.

I've taken it as clear evidence of them not being entirely transparent with us.

The stall holders seem to have voted with their curtains - early afternoon yesterday and all bar a couple of the stalls were definitely closed. Thought I had read on here that the stallholders had to sign an agreement for 6 day week opening.
Does anyone really know what is going on?

And will continue to do so, ain't seen a council yet that's perfect, especially if the last Labour run shambles was anything to go by:rolleyes:

There you go again, living in the past as usual, trying to take the pressure off todays mess by digging up how you percieved what came before.

Why not be like Ken, a little more adventurous and looking forward to a new and even bigger shambles.
:D

Now there lies the potential for you to have fresh material to complain about. (Even if the Miracle happens and we do get Utopiah).
:)

We have (at least) two Conservative councillors, Britcliffe and Addison, who are active members of Accy Web.

One of whom has used this forum to discuss local political issues.

I'm sure most of the general public would like some balance, which would happen if they posted their thoughts on the discussion.

Sorry, it's actually three Conservative councillors.

Cllr. Whittaker is also a forum member, and has also discussed political issues on here.

Perhaps they see their posts as being 'quality', rather than 'quantity'.

;)

No need to say much more when its true Less, knowing just how much Labour are always in rejection, who Gov, not me Gov, always other's to blame, the disappearance of Brown and Darling, who despite still being MPs have been very conspicuous by their absence since May last year;)
