scandal after scandal, with all parties having their snouts in the trough......nothing learned by any of them.

Party leaders assure the electorate that this was a 'one off'.........an oversight. Then a couple of months down the line it happens again.

It's no wonder they resort to behaviour like this, they're all so poor. Osborne doesn't even earn enough to pay 50p tax on his earnings. It must be true, it said so in jaysay's bible.

Which just goes to show what those of us without red or blue blinkers have been saying on here for donkey's years. Labour, Tories...they're all the same. In it for themselves!

I agree, lets see how Labour managed the petrol tanker drivers strikes if they happen. Unite are Labours biggest funder which must be a conflict of interest and should never have been allowed.

Last Sunday the Tories got it in the Sunday Times, will it be Labours turn this Sunday I wonder?

Re: The Tories

i think everybody is missing the point about the tanker strike.ie why are they going on strike. its not about the money so what is it? is it they are outsourcing contracts to make the driver drive longer, are they going to be using beat clock condition which is dangerous with a fuel load? these questions have to be asked before we condemn the strikers as road safety comes first.

Re: The Tories

What has this strike got to do with the current government?
The strikers are after better Terms and Conditions, I know little of ADR and how it is regulated, but these drivers are earning a average of £45,000 per year, that's more than a lot of Airline Pilots, but of course pilots only have hundreds of lives in their hands...

As professional drivers, the tanker lads will be running on a Drivers card, driving times & pauses are stored & checked on said card.

Strict guidelines as to when & where to drive, pre planned routes which are set & followed plus various other rules, regs & conditions.

Further more due to EU policies they'd have undergone various modules concerning their job & undertaken several Hazmat/ Dangerous goods courses.

Having said that, that is how it is envisioned & as such is strongly enforced by the Police/BAG (DfT Freight & Haulage) & controlled over here even as a normal wagon driver without any Hazardous loads. Theoretically the same applies to UK.

So as to why they're threatening strike action, apparently over "Safety ? & Terms & conditions". But these issues are the same throughout Europe, so I think there's probably more to it than first appears to be the case. Unite & Mr.McCluskey flexing muscles ????
