I knew it had shut down, but didn't know why. I am curious though and I've just sent one of the 'current' dancers a text asking if she knows.

I suspect it fell on hard times, they weren't permitted to advertise and various customers of mine when I mentioned it, didn't know it was there even some who lived near it.

I loved working there, and I miss it, but even with my expertise it wasn't easy to make money, and generally if the dancers don't earn the club doesn't earn.

The manager who owned the business was lovely, I have a lot of admiration for her as a person, for personal reasons, we talked a lot.

She had suffered a lot for trying so hard to make it work and treated the staff and dancers with a lot of respect and care. I've emailed her asking if I can help with anything.

I'll update the thread if I find out anything further I could be completely wrong with my thoughts on why iCandy closed down.

To be honest, I think it was just in the wrong place.
Accrington is not a hub of entertainemt....either night time or day time....andit was never going to be the stag night capital of the North West.

That's true! I'm no expert on Accrington but I know whenever I mentioned it to a customer of mine the reactions were to the lines of 'What?!A club in ACCRINGTON!!??'

I had some profitable nights there-but only through sheer business sense. A friend of mine worked there one night and didn't make any money at all.

I have never understood the attraction of a lapdance venue.
I know a bloke who visited the spearmint rhino in London; 1 hour later his wallet was£400 lighter and he had consumed all of 3 whisky's.
And yet he said it was one of the best nights of his life.
I don't get it.

I've spoken to a few of the club's previous dancers, general consensus is it wasn't making enough money. None can confirm they know for sure, though.

To be honest its a knocking bet it wasn't making enough money, Can remember a pub in town having topless barmaids,many moons ago, That didn't last long, pub is long gone, Accys only a small town n fair to say a small town mentality exists imho.:)

Yes you're very likely correct there!

I'm upset I won't work there again but made a couple of friends and got some good contacts so that's okay:)
