When you don't have a recognisable centre, you don't get 'town planners' forever ripping it up in the name of progress.

you would think it was a bare minimum that someone have experience of using a road before been allowed to design one

I still say that the junction at Church commercial, is better when the lights aren't working, certainly don't get the same snarl ups that's for sure
