Thumbs down Greece........................Sink or Swim?

Do you think it is time to pull the plug?
It would be very interesting to know how much Greece have paid into the EU and how much have they had out?
Greece can't afford to be in the Euro. Neither can we.

Re: Greece........................Sink or Swim?

Not really any of my business any more, but am I wrong in thinking that the EU is not really all that good of an idea. Apart from the economic issues, the question of democracy looms large ... ironically large in the case of Greece. If it is that unpopular, why the hell don't folks just tell their governments to opt out. The economic union thing I could accept; but all the political bs that goes along with it: I don't be thinking so. We can live with NAFTA ... it has always loosely and unofficially been there. In fact, it's hard to do without it, considering that the Province of Ontario alone trades more with the US than does China. But closer political ties with the US, no way.

By the way, my answer would be sink.

Many ordinary folk would happily say shove it, but unfortunately those in power won't let it happen, they just bully & browbeat the populace, or like Ireland make them vote again until the desired answer is achieved or the case of UK where despite promised referendums the public are pushed by the wayside & ignored.

I do hope so, there'll be some pain & whining but every new start is painful but the stronger nations will be able to pull away from the dross & set their Country to rights.

Any country that employs more public sector than private will be struggling.
Speculators will loose thousands but I don't think that will hurt anyone.

Re: Greece........................Sink or Swim?

One things for sure if Greece defaults on loans or cannot pay it won't do the UK economy any favours as Greece owes the UK at least £5 billion...Eurozone nations like Germany and France will suffer most and even though the UK is not a member of the Euro we still ended up "loaning" billions to bail out Ireland.

Not much mileage in that Mancie, our trade with Ireland means we have a chance to get our money back. Greece no chance.
