He and Dave's Bob would make a good pair - love to see them together!

Well Dave's never posted from Jumbles (had to look that up) or Longridge Fell but you might catch him in Mercer Park...

Not necessarily MY day, but what happened today in my garden... and probably tomorrow and the day after as well.

We have been having problems with the drains and decided to have them replaced in plastic, which involved a workman digging up the path and a lot of spoil to shift... This is the third excavation and repair he's done in different parts of the garden, hopefully the last. It's also one one of the reasons why my garden has been left to its own devices of late.

1 The excavation
2 From the other end
3 Garden gnome inspecting the work
4 Tomorrow this will all be plastic
5 The new pipes waiting to go in
6 Finished for the day

Part 1. Today in Pictures, a parallel walk.

1. Hurst Green, the Alms Houses.
2. The Cemetery, Stonyhurst College.
3. It has big doors and a bell rope, mausoleum possibly.
4. Stonyhurst College.
5. This statue is at the top of the drive looking down to the college, is that a bit arty or what/.
6. Heading back to Hurst Green, but a right turn just before.
7. Lovely start to the footpath.
8. Rock pools, it must have taken weeks for the water to wear a path through the stone.
9. More water wear.
10. There used to be a quarry here.

Today was lovely and we had some white fluffy clouds which I didn't manage to photograph. However among the chaos in the garden, nature thrives.

1 Poppies among the rubble
2 Foxglove, comfrey and fennel
3 The pots are very slow to fill out this year
4 House leek (sempervivum) in a pot
5 This is the only cat we've got now - £1.99 from B&Q - at least he can't run away.

Is that walk started opposite the alms houses following the stream towards the fell?

Sue, once the work is done you will be able to get your garden back into some order....and it will be worth it.

They're not in yet and the old ones are still in situ - I'll have to use the loo in the basement while he does that tomorrow!
