It's a good job you didn't have to go out looking for him in the home of the St Bernard - this is what it was like at the top of the Great St Bernard Pass between Italy and Switzerland in September 2009. The third pic shows the van of an organisation that is looking after the safety of the breed. There were a couple of dogs outside and I took photos of them but you can't see them in the mist! Their website has some wonderful photos however - and the game that comes up if you click the "fun" tab has a wonderful sound effect (I'm easily pleased!). The link brings the site up in French but there is an English option on top RH corner

Well, they do say that the exception tests the rule(or some say, proves the rule).

If I am going somewhwere I haven't visited before I do usually get on the computer and have a look at a street map.......once I have done that I can usually find my way around.......I just shut my eyes and I can see the map I saw on my computer screen.

Ma and I have never got lost yet(maybe I shouldn't have verbalised that)....though there have been times when she thought we were lost...she just wasn't aware I was taking her back to the coach by an alternative route.

Anyway, after it went "boobs up" found the receipt, and tootled off to PC World(its still warrantied). they say it will take at least two weeks.
Got out the standby laptop, everything had, and still has to be updated, so i'v been a bit distracted. Still have to put on my camera software.
Will be uploading again when I get this all sorted.

Part 1. Today in Pictures, is one of those "I wonder were that goes" type of ramble.
1. Along Whalley Road, Accy direction.
2. Sharp left up past the print works.
3. Walking between the tip and print works, its a bit "bomb site"
4. Keep going it must come out somewhere?
5. Ends at Whinney Hill Road.
6. Straight across the road, the old brickworks site, this is the pond they used for water.
7. Straight on, its not marked as a footpath, but is well walked.
8. Keep going, who knows.
9. I can see Huncoat and the Coppice from here.

We havent been round Calf Hey since we were shouted at by a farmer to put our dog on a lead. Our dog at the time was Gyp and he would never leave my side.

Great pics again Dave -especially love the dry-stone walls - so beautifully Lanky!

A local artist, Steve Townsend did a fab painting called "Mending wall" featuring a dry stone wall crumbling and covered in moss -saw it over 25 yrs ago and still remember it.:)
