I have very much enjoyed the photos of fellow Accy Web snappers this past few days! I've travelled all over, and seen many wonderful sights I wouldn't get to see otherwise. Thank you all!
Here are a few pics from my last few days. 1. A storm is coming. 2. Look up. 3. 25th anniversary (well the unofficial one, blush!) lunch at a nice eatery. 4. Porcupine on display at a mall. I've never seen a live one up close, only dead ones on the road. Notice the quill on the floor to the right. No, these beasts can't shoot their quills at you, that's a fable. 5. A kangaroo in a pouch. 6. Some pots ready to go into the kiln for firing. I've been hankering to get this technique going for quite a while. A friend joined in with me to make it happen at our local potter's guild. A lot of preparation for this, and no guarantee of results, but it's fun! 7. Opening the kiln is like Christmas - always a surprise. 8. One of my pieces - it still has to separated from the pedestal and saucer. The pedestal raises it up, and the saucer catches the drips of this very runny glaze. 9. My friend's bowl - I'm quite jealous how well it turned out! No really, I'm beamishly happy for her - her first go round with this difficult technique :) 10. Closeup of crystals on the bowl. |

I didn't realise you had porcupines in the wild over there, I wasn't sure where they lived but thought they liked warm climates. Nice pots, the design looks very delicate. |
Re: Today in pictures
ooh, I love that bowl. It appeals to the magpie in me.....sparkly things make me tingle with delight.

He used to sit up until the wee small hours talking to people all over the world. I wish I could remember his call sign....but I can't. I wonder if Ma kept any of the contact cards. |

Another set from Sunday's trip to the River Po. The first 3 are of another friends place - he built the jetty for his boat (in photo 3) here on the farm. He's one of our tractor drivers. The crucufix is by a local artist called Spadari who lives there - another smaller crucifix is by his house - Casa Rosada - it's all a bit shabby chic but not contrived -just lots of old stuff (and folk!) around. Final photo is a warning sign - there's a hydro-electric power station up river and sometimes they open the sluice gates causing tidal waves - apparently there's a siren which goes off to warn people out on boats!
