I went out for my power-walk up the lane early this afternoon - didn't take my camera and wished I had so I came back and had a second nature walk a little later to take some photos of the lovely wild flowers I had seen by the stream. lots of colour and plenty of insects around including an orange dragonfly and a Common blue butterfly (a male one the guide says!) I think the pink flower is an orchid not sure about the first blue one - I'm sure Dave will put me straight.

The sheep as you say looked affronted because Max went for a drink in it's water.

No. 2 I should have noticed the photo wanted cropping slightly. I didn't notice the mirror when I took it.

No. 4 They must be camera shy, I kept calling "come on gee gee's look this way".

No. 5 I have lost my bearings, where is the Church please tell?
The shot was taken from Green Howarth and the far distant houses are in Read with Haug, Scott and Lawrence Avenues top right.

No. 6 would that be the playing fields next to the Bowling Club up above Willows Lane?

No, 10 Homeward bound, mate not there so no ale for me until tonight.

Sorry Davemac, not up to your standards because I came home with a dry gusset, I am sure that must help when you take photos.:tongueout

But as you were at the club, then not with a dry pallet I wager.

My friend hadn't show up so left high and dry.
I haven't even gone out tonight, I have about thirty photos to print for tomorrow to take to Barnoldswick so they can select which ones they want duplicating and what size etc.
Some will be made into 4X4 inch fridge magnets.
It's all for charity so I am working for nowt again.

Farnborough Primary School in Southport.
I think there were two classes on the play area. They looked to be having a lot of fun.
The pictures were taken in Southport this afternoon.

Not sure of the blue one, although it does have certain characteristics of the cornflower, so perhaps a sub species, and the "Orchid" is Betony (herb), Orchids have rosette type leaves close to the ground and send a flower spike up with just a flower on, Betony pushes up a flower with smaller leaves at the flowering point.
Good job you revisited your walk with a camera, those Common Blue Butterflies, I have been stalking those for over a year and never managed to get a solid shot of them, so two gold stars on the wall chart.

Today in Pictures, time to park myself in the park.

1. Main gates starting point.
2. Looking back in the other direction.
3. Through the main door and on the right was the Parks Superintendents office.
4. St. Johns- Wort.
5. A few people bronzing pearly white body parts, to the right the Coppice, straight ahead Pendle.
6. Soon to be renovated.
7. The once main building for bowling and tennis allocations, in the 80's when Wimbledon was on the telly we had a waiting list for courts.
8. Its not a very busy day today.
9. A once popular shrub, not planted much nowadays, Hydrangea, a plant that can change colour with the PH. of the soil.
10. The circle is almost complete.
