They obviously didn't fire real bullets Frank but the noise and flame was real.
I got some photos of the knives and axes in mid air when the Indian was throwing them at boards with people stood in front.
I would love a go at trying to get a photo of a bullet leaving a gun though.
Maybe if I bought an air pistol we could have a go at getting a photo of the the thing with feathers on it leaving the gun.
I recon me and you would eventually manage it if we had a big box of missiles.
I have plenty of outside secure space.

Right, I am going online to source an air gun, the challenge is set.

It's all in the muzzle velocity. The guy in the deer photo ... love it by the way ... is using a lever action ... looks like a 30-30 ... probably a Winchester '94, or maybe a Marlin. They don't have that high of a muzzle velocity; Google will tell you exactly;). You could lower the speed by loading your own ammo and cutting down on the propellant. Maybe there's a local gun club you could check out. I think Retlaw knows a lot more about this shiite than I do. My knowledge is limited to things like knowing not to use a Ruger 204 when hunting in heavy bush.:D There's possibly special cameras that would do the trick, but I don't know much about photography.

When I worked over at BP in Hull I got friendly with gun man who took me to the indoor range a few times, only pistols allowed.
He made his own bullets and I was allowed to have a shoot, I had six with a gun with a revolving chamber which nearly blew me backwards and six with a Magnum. I looked after a caravan for an old gentleman when we ran the park and he started the Burnley Gun club, he was a police man and had medals all over the place. I never got chance to visit with him though. He has since passed away.
Below are a couple of what I call my faffing about photos, taken with the little Panasonic.
You can make out the name Lumix in the reflection along with my fingers.
Fast shutter, wide aperture, no flash, thirty clicks and pick the best. All luck.

I believe they produced various models over a couple of years, from what I've heard, seen & read, but as they weren't the most practical of vehicles finding working examples is limited to such events. :)

I have three Lumix cameras. My husband has been trying to,persuade me to sell a couple of them......but I can't. They are like friends to me.

I agree Frank, read all the books you want, get the basics and then as I call it "faff about" remembering what setting does what. It was too expensive years ago when we had film cameras and that when you had to be skilled or throw money into the developing shop bank account.

This photo was another multi shot with the Nikon D7100 and you can see bits of balloon flying away after the axe hit it.

Today in Pictures, Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.

1. All this nature and not a soul in sight.
2. When you look at it properly you can imagine all the men building this by hand with no mechanisation whatsoever.
3. Time to gain a bit of altitude.
4. A minute ago I was looking up at this, now I am level with the top, trying to breath.
5. Still people-less as far as the eye can see.
6. Strange alien craft discovered.
7. I wonder if anybody heard it.
8. When it's no longer a tree nature puts it to another use.
9. This is all that remains of the underpass that permitted access once the railway came to town.
10. One of the older sections of the woods that lined the railway tracks, and time to head back, and without meeting another person.

It's a Panasonic DMC -TZ30 Lumix with a Leica lens. It is Full high definition and 20 optical zoom. Usually I use it in manual mode but always leave it on auto when it's in my pocket in case I suddenly see something worthwhile to capture and don't have time to get the manual setting right.
It was a brand new model when I got it and it was about £200 but a newer model has come out which is dearer and the only difference is the new one has Wi fi. It is a very handy pocket camera as you can see by some of the photos I take with it.
The Nikon D7100 is a fantastic camera and I have plenty of lenses and accessories with it but a big lump to cart around unless I am doing something special.
The Nikon links to the iphone and is handy at parties etc when you can put it down pointing at a group and sit away from it watching the iphone until you want to take a remote photo shown on the phone, very handy to stop people looking self conscious when you are pointing a big camera at them.
I don't use it for pervy snaps before anybody thinks different..!!

The Olympus DSLR with two lenses and accessories is still in the box unused and for sale.
I might give it an airing tomorrow just to make change.

Russell, I have A lumix G with a variety of lenses(they are micro four thirds) and I have a lumix FZ18...and then the newest of the bunch is the lumix FZ72.
My little camera(which I carry in my bag...along with two spare batteries) is a Fuji EXR 600.
The FZ72 has an impressive Zoom lens. I like taking pictures of people from a distance....natural shots. People are better when they don't know they are being snapped.
I am always looking at cameras. Himself cannot understand it. He reckons they all do the same thing.
He says that I could sell two of them and not miss them at all.
I won't tell you what my response to that suggestion is.:D

My best lens for long zooms is the Nikon 400mm, viabration reduction and auto focus bla bla .
The workman told me the top of the turbine motor, not blade, was 375 feet and I was stood about that distance away. Working on the square of the hypotenuse the camera was about 467 feet away from the subject. I was sat in the car resting the lens on the window bottom,manual mode including focus.

I had donned a high visibility vest and while on site I had my four way indicator winkers going on the car hoping they would think I was an official, I got away with it. I would not have attempted to go on site in a two wheel drive car, the track was really bad and chewed up with the heavy equipment they were using.

To say I was a bit chuffed with the outcome is an understatement.

I have never been much cop at the nature sort of stuff such as the ones Davemac and others post, mainly because my interest doesn't really cover that, unless there is a tractor or steam engine ploughing a field then I all for it.
