It's a steep learning curve - glad of some critical feedback, so thank-you.

Number three has strong colours with the Bougainville which is Fucschia pink and the shutters too were a good colour - will have another play with it. It's quite absorbing when you get going! :)

Yes, it is quite addictive.(and can be time consuming too - I can lose hours)
I hope I didn't come across as too critical...after all it is down to personal taste.
I think perhaps number three is one of the pictures taken at the same time as the hotel pic...or at least I took it to be one of those.

Yes, was taken on the same short break. I have the same photo taken the day before around the middle of the day (this was early morning the next day -went back especially) and it was a lesson on light. The first shot was flat without depth and shadow even though the composition was completely unchanged...
Criticism is welcome -hard to see your own mistakes and it makes you look harder at what you're trying to do! :)

A selection of photos from today - quick bike ride this evening to nearby village of Cortetano. Flowers, old buildings and mulberries. (The rose in number six is a miniature - around 1cm diameter if that!).

Have been having a play with the colour isolation on Photscape - hard to find the right subject - some are more effective than others. Practise makes perfect (I hope!)
1 A fern ready to unfurl
2 Croquet on the lawns of Sizergh Castle
3 Red Hot Chili Peppers

#3 is special.:D

Great results with the colour isolation - really like what you've done with 3 and the leaves are very striking - good choice of subject - I am still lagging behind you and Margaret in this speciality...
Very moody panorama in number one and nice shots of the funghi especially - will never tire of seeing them - not many round here as yet! I hope to have a good walk this afternoon so will keep my eyes peeled.

Did you spot in number one (post 9651) the reservoir in Cutwood Park, and off to the right the copse of trees that you said were planted for Queen Victoria.
The fungi here are not as plentiful this year, but I think they may bloom next year due to all the trees down at the start of the year.

Another walk down the Dunk today, then through the woods and along the canal.

1. A Robin, keeping an eye on us.
2-4. A dapper Dipper (was quite a long way away, need to get closer for a better pic).
5. A butterfly, possibly a Painted Lady.
6. A daft dog.
7. Some swans.

I love the robin.
There do seem to be a lot of robins about right now.

Sorry to bore you again with my "Today in pictures" but it's what I did today.
I went along to the Museum at Leyland and they had the old charabanc out so I had a ride round in it.
No.3 A genuine Burnley tram conductors badge, shown by the grandson of the original owner.

No. 4 A working lorry which is not being restored because it has been used in a few TV programs. Drove in by a nice young lady.
No. 5 The tax disc they had to put in the window for the filming.

No. 6 My old favourite, brings back memories.
No. 7, Finally to balance the books, my rose without the creepy crawler.

Haven`t seen that many recently apart from this one today and one yesterday, earlier in the year they were everywhere.

Re: Today in pictures

There are quite a few near our house.
I didn't realise that male and female robins looked the same. What i took to be a female is apparently a juvenile robin.
A couple of weekends ago a robin kept flying into my neighbours garage window.
It spent the whole of the afternoon flying against the glass. I asked my neighbour to see if there was a bird trapped in his garage.....there wasn't, it was just that the robin could see its own reflection and was fighting it.
My neighbour put a board against the glass so that there was not a reflection and the bird left.

I'm sure there's plenty around, but the birds in general are being very shy at the moment, I hear them in the trees and bushes but the little sods won't show themselves.
