"...everything in human history churned slowly towards Cosimo Matassa's tiny recording studio in New Orleans on that fateful day in the middle of the century. There, all we know on earth and all we need to know about love, freedom, desire and the need to boogie come together in less than 3 minutes. Then out of this brief moment flows everything we need and want and ever will..." (David Kirby - "Little Richard The Birth of Rock 'n' Roll").

Re: Accy Web video jukebox.
that's a cracker Steve
I have'nt had a 'long' chat with Al yet but I wonder if his love of rhythm and blues might have stemmed from our 'razzles' round the Ribble valley singing (screeching) to the strains of 'what becomes of the broken hearted' take care Martin |
Re: Accy Web video jukebox.
Could well be, Marti, it's a classic!
|
Re: Accy Web video jukebox.
thanks Steve
Listened to that and was right back there! --- 'stumped' posed a 'thinker' for me on a post the other day when he mentioned listening to the radio in front of a blazing coal fire c.50s! It got me to thinking of what we must have been breathing in then - all those fumes from the coal fire plus the Erinmore Flake my dad put in his pipe and the Senior Service/Players/capstan full strength (no tips then!) that my mum smoked -- I'm still alive today, enjoying good health (fingers crossed) and smoking roll ups - do you think the Health and safety guys have gone a little 'over the top'??? which brings me to the main question - Which cigarette advert said ' you're never alone with a ------?' what was the scene (I think it was a couple lying down in a wood somewhere) and what was the background music (classical i think) cheers Martin |
Re: Accy Web video jukebox.
"You're never alone with a Strand"...remember it well, mate. Vaguely recall the music but couldn't tell you what it was...you'd have to ask somebody more cultured than me! :D
|
Re: Accy Web video jukebox.
you're absolutely right!
the background is, I think, a peice by Mozart -- I'm off to track it down -- (put the 'strand and Mozart' together and you're back in the 60s! we'll see, I could be totally wrong! |
Re: Accy Web video jukebox.
I think I'm totally wrong
google tells me it was 'theme to a lonely man' which led to the demise of the Strand brand - if you can be bothered I just entered 'your never alone------' and the info came up (still!? - interesting) otherwise have a listen on youtube to the excellent versions of Paschedel D Minor - just for a change! thanks for help anway Martin |

Sadly lead singer and co-founder of the whole psycobilly movement, Lux Interior, died last year, and they've disbanded. Up until his death they were still touiring and thrashing about the world. I only saw them once in the late eighties, and they were utterly brilliant. |
