wonder where he will be in the pecking order. 2nd, 3rd or 4th choice. could be a good loanee for someone this season.

In the article I read it said he'd be third choice, replacing Willy Caballero

funny move for a lad his age. cannot see how it will better his career but will increase his bank balance. a couple of years as a 3rd choice people will forget he ever existed.

So what might motivate a player like him to choose to sign with Chelsea as the backup to the backup? As he tells the Chelsea official website in his first interview, it’s partly the challenge of competing against internationals, partly the opportunity to be a part of a big team playing for big trophies, and partly the potential benefits for his future career, be that at Chelsea or elsewhere.

“I’m excited to work with those two top-class goalkeepers and I’m sure I’ll learn a lot from them both. One of the biggest reasons for joining Chelsea is I’ve still got a lot to give. I’m only young in terms of a goalkeeper’s point of view so the fact I can learn from two keepers that have done so much in the game already even though they’re still quite young, really excites me. I know the coaching staff and the club has a pedigree of top goalkeepers so I can’t wait to be a part of that.”

Missed the pay rise out then good luck to lad was brilliant at Stanley just hope he gets game time sometime because he,s to good for warming a bench.

always find that clean sheet keepers stat does not tell the full story. playing behind a good or bad defence makes the difference in the number of clean sheets you get. says nothing about your ability to cut our crosses and comand the box as well as how good your distribution is. the latter is getting more important in the game.

Your right distribution is a big plus with keepers Nathan Baxter was excellent at it best keeper I have personally seen at Stanley. Big hopes for Toby Savin and he,s still learning but for me that's an area of his game that can be worked on and improved.

Sign a six foot six highly rated at Burnley keeper on loan at a fraction of the cost of bringing back a keeper who hasn't actually set the world on fire since he left at a cost we probably can't afford anyway ain't rocket science. Plus hopefully keep hold of Savin as well that's 3 keeper,s just a left sided defender now.

Highly rated ?
Who by ?
Owned by Burnley - never played once.
Went on loan to Bolton - never played once.
Went on loan to Carlisle - played once.

Makes Savin look like a veteran.

A number of former players are involved in 3rd qualifying round matches on Saturday. Two, for starters...

Lewis Gilboy has scored a few for Bury this season, including two against Lancaster in last week's second qualifying round replay: https://buryafc.uk/match/51450-bury-...ancaster-city/; and four, and an assist, at Padiham earlier in the season: https://buryafc.uk/match/47478-padiham-v-bury-afc/. They're away at Clitheroe.

Billy Kee has been coming on as a sub in recent matches. Coalville have beaten Shepshed and Macclesfield in the cup so far, and are at home to Sudbury.

Bright lad Liam. I always liked him, both as a player and manager at Stanley. Not the most gifted player but a whole hearted full throttle left back. As a rookie manager at Stanley he managed to keep us up when all looked lost that season. Glad he's got a good payoff. Did OK at Wigan as well. Yes he had money to spend but that can have its drawbacks as it attracts players with big ego's. He's not popular with everyone on here because oh his connection's with Paul Cook, but you sometimes have to take your opportunities when they come along in the merry-go-round of football and football management. Good luck to him!
