Can't see 20 player max for senior squad.

Agreed Josh.
Do the maths that cap with 20 players would make the average wage £2400 a week.
As if ...........

Neither can I don't think it's a good idea but apparently it is being discussed and salary cap It I think will definitely come in probably with a grace period of maybe 12 months for already agreed contracts, but rumours are top earner in league 1 last season was on £15600 a week.

andyd 17-06-2020 13:50

Re: Former Players!

If by the way the £15600a week salary is true that's over 50% of Stanley's entire playing budget.

Only way that could have happened is if it was a relegated Championship player on an extended deal.

When Sunderland came down Jack Ross had to trim the wage bill Rodwell was on a reported £76000 a week shifted most of them but McCready was still around on £30000 plus a week, not an easy job for a manager to then try and attract players to replace supposedly championship quality wage disparity between leagues is a joke.

in which way. too many or not enough players. can remember the bad old days of the late 70,s and early 80,s where clubs had small squads. players were regularly patched up to get through games which i doubt did em much good in later lives. that was with much lower numbers of matchday squads as we now have.

Its too tight.
Two goalkeepers leaves 18 outfield.
Theres an argument you need three keepers.
Two suspensions and two injured and your down to bare bones.
If the cap is £2.5 mill cant possibly be 20.

There's your under 21,s allowed up to 8 I believe which is a good idea breaking in youth plus I should imagine you will be allowed your usual 5 loanees in your match day squad this can give you a squad of 33 not sure.

There's nothing allowed or otherwise Andy.
All of this is nothing but conjecture.
Will be a good debate though once there is a formal agreement.

their fans will be happy about that. those players are tarnished as those who took em down. when you get promoted you think the other way. those are the lads that got us up and fans opinion of em are warmer due to this.

Byron was quality when he was at Stevenage the first time round. When we played them in that play off game, I'd have given anything to have had him in a Stanley red shirt.

That's about how I see it which by the time you've paid the extra 12/13 players the wage figure mentioned will be considerably reduced.

And its alright thinking ah well 8 of them will be on next to nothing but it doesn't work like that if they're any good and you expose them to league football unless you offer them a first-year pro contract clubs further up the food chain can come along and nick them for virtually nothing so if you say 400pw and add in bonuses you're not going to be that far short of what you were paying your lowest-paid players before.

And that takes us to what will turn out to be the most contentious aspect of this is if that is the figure it must include bonuses [ or it would be a total waste of time if what you can pay what you want as a bonus ]

And I can see a lot of players getting part-time marketing executive jobs with club owners other companies.

Northern Soul - what if your best players didnt have a direct contract with you ?
Sean McConville Ltd contracts and agrees to supply the services of ... Sean McConville ?
Just being facetious.
The point is unless this wage cap agreement is water tight the bigger clubs will find a way around it.

Well if agents and others see a way round it they will be sharpening their drills in anticipation, FA, EFL or whoever need to do what they don't usually and flex their muscles and show some leadership, deduction of points whatever is needed they were strong with poor old Bury need to be consistent.

I.ve always said professional Football is more suited to having its players as self-employed contractors on fixed-term contracts rather than PAYE and in some ways they would be better off being able to charge things such as medical bills, travel and accommodation bills against their tax liabilities.

Guess whos totally against it as it removes a lot of the protections they currently enjoy yes the one and only My Moneybags Taylor

It was tounge in cheek comment and being on loan is a bit different than uping sticks on a permanent basis, but agree personally thought Alese looked the pick of the bunch of the loanees, looked after right could be some player.

with either in goal and zanzala as a back up striker who played some games it does show how good the rest of the lads where. with a top keeper and better striker stanley would have been closer to the play offs than relagation.

Wouldn’t say it was quite like that....

Ben’s number plate had been cloned and it flagged up on the ANPR cameras that it was linked to drugs and firearms. He was pulled over and put in handcuffs whilst police conducted enquiries.

Thought he made a bit of a fool out of himself by saying it was ‘impossible’ his plates have been cloned....

Disagree I'm sorry to say. If the newspaper story is factually correct and the number plates on the car were associated with drug activity and firearms offences then the police were right to stop the car, detain the occupants and search the vehicle. It doesn't matter who the driver is. We all need to co-operate with the police to prevent crime and make our streets and communities safer. Remember, at the time the car is stopped the police don't know if the occupants are guilty or innocent. Therefore they need to take precautions and neutralise any potential threat to their safety. The families of the police officers also need to be protected from losing their loved ones who serve the community on the front line fighting crime.

The families of the police officers also need to be protected from losing their loved ones who serve the community on the front line fighting crime.

Absolutely spot on my Granddad was a policeman as is my nephew currently they have a difficult job and need the support of the public.

Charming as always Cashy, it's a good job I know you :)

No, I wasn't aware of the full story - I just saw the footage & was appalled at the treatment of the couple as were many others including Ben's club Bradford City who are considering taking legal action, maybe they're as daft as me

[QUOTE=Crown Grounder;1242136]the number plates on the car were associated with drug activity and firearms offences then the police were right to stop the car, detain the occupants and search the vehicle. It doesn't matter who the driver is. We all need to co-operate with the police to prevent crime and make our streets and communities safer.

thats true, but unfortunetly i for one know that the information the police have is not 100 per cent correct. there was a police car parked at the bottom of the road last year looking at our house. as soon as i got onto the road they pulled me up for no insurance. i had changed companies about a month before. i always have a printed insurance documents sent to me and went to my house to show them. it took em about 10 minutes to knock on the door to apologize saying that something had gone wrong at their end. does make you wonder.

Theres a lot about this that doesnt add up

The car was apparently stopped because it had drug and firearms markers on it.

Well i.m sorry but if that was correct an officer with no more than a taser would not have been orderered to stop/imobilise it.

The call would have been put out for the nearest firearms unit car to attend and if they had driven off before it arrived the car would be tracked on both the video and number plate recognition cameras until a firearms unit stop could be put in place.

Stopping cars with markers on them isnt really about expecting to catch and prosecute the occupants but more about disrupting them and their activites

Ross lives in that area.

Donny paid us a fee for his services, so couldn't have been that bad!!

Surely Bertie B who come on loan very early in the Conference winning season was amongst the worst we've signed. I take it not too many can remember Cambridge away in September 05?
