Who knows Tealeaf .. probably did get it .. can search if you wish.. maybe they found better premises or went bust. May have specialised in house conveyancing.. LOL Just noticed for the last Planning meeting .. last Wednesday. The Thorn Inn/Church was appealing against their rejection of a smoking area (due to not fitting in with the surroundings). Not sure if they got it or not ? |
Re: Planning Applications
Bet the 2 for 1 offer has finished by the time they build it
Hahaha. Should it not be former gym or did the gym never have planning permission ? Eeew don't know Dave .. Think we are talking about the old Peugot place aren't we ? Going down on the right hand side. Did it become a gym ? Never noticed. |

11/10/0271 Full: Change of use from Retail Shop (Class14/07/2010A1) to Taxi Booking Office (Class Sui Generis) 3 Barnes Square, Clayton le Moors, Accrington, BB5 5NX Mrs N Bibi Mmmm...not sure about this. That square is busy enough already with people fighting for parking space as they visit the shops, without the introduction of taxis coming and going. Depends how they are going to operate though. May attract some objections. |

Re: Planning Applications
Looks like there are plans afoot to close down another pub:
11/10/0403 Full: Proposed conversion of Oddfellows 08/09/2010 Public House to 3 dwellings and erection of 3 adjoining dwellings on land currently car park to Oddfellows. Oddfellows and car park adjoining Whalley Road, Clayton-le-Moors. Oddfellows Daniel Thwaites plc I believe the newly re-furbished Forts Arms is looking pretty smart though. |
Re: Planning Applications
I wonder if anyone could point out where planning permission has been granted for the demolition of the old stone wall which cuts across the Church/Accy boundary on the south side of Blackburn Rd and is the northernmost perimeter of the 'Acorn Park' development.
This wall was probably built sometime between the construction of Blackburn Rd in the 1820's and the reservoir lying south in the 1830/40's (now Acorn Park). It was, of course the site of regular whitewashings following Church/Accy cricket matches and piccys of these go back to the latter part of the 19th C. I cannot see where or how it is now going to be reconstituted so I can only assume it has now gone for good and in it's place we shall all have a splendid view of some mickey mouse housing estate. So...has this wrecking job been legal or not? |
Re: Planning Applications
Ya' daft beggar ...course it is legal .. demolition of this wall would have been in the umbrella of the full planning application.
Was just a blooming wall anyway ... edging of a now defunct reservoir. |

That was an old wall with an awful lot of historical significance. You might be happy with second rate cow sheds and third rate doll's houses going up all over the place, but some of us have class, culture, historical awareness and pride in our little town. |

Not even going to succumb to answer the other paragraph. Come to our meeting on Thursday of the Hyndburn Local History Society and meet people who are really interested in the pride of our town, including me ... :p |
